I do and don't want a gf, I'm not too bothered, don't want anymore friends though happy with my friends now. I found MSN boring enough so I know I will despise facebook and myspace

Getting Facebook will not guarantee those things.

Getting a facebook or myspace doesn't gurantee anything, it doesn't gurantee more friends at all, besides I would rather get to know them in real life (i.e. in person)

<Irrelevant rant>
No, don't have a Facebook or a Myspace, one reason being that I am an English Comprehensibility Nazi. That is, I am highly against chatspeak and leet, and generally botched English. My current policy is this: Read it back, aloud, as-is and if you don't sound relatively silly/stupid and the sentence structure makes sense, perhaps then you can consider posting your comment. While this happens to be a brutally mean policy, I would prefer it if you attempted to fight back the butchering of the King's English. I might go and learn the British English for kicks, so I can have a secondary language on my Resumé.

And try to keep the memes to a minimum, or and don't even think about 'tagging' me. If I want to fill a survey, or take a quiz, I already have sites that let me do that. Keep your captioned cats to a minimum, I don't need 1000 of them filling my comment box.
</Rant>

Also, to answer the question of 'Am I currently seeking a dating partner?' at the moment, NO. After or during collage, sure. And heck, meeting some mystery person online? You do realize that is one of the least sane ways of getting a date, right? When it comes to social networking sites, I think I am going with I believe to be a safe and sound decision, and will be a Luddite. I have a blog on WP, but even that is gathering dust.

In summary and conclusion, I would have to further off in the deep end of 'being sane' to even consider making one. But, that is only my opinion, with a 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance of changing. A chance, and nothing more. If I want my computer to run slower, I might join and have loads of flashy stuff and click every single link, switch back to IE, and follow every ad. And install AOL.

Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter are all overrated!

What's the point of all three?

:thumbdown: is MySpace

:ncool: is Twitter

And :eew: is Facebook!

I have a myspace. I only add as friends people that I actually know and like irl. Therefore I don't have many friends and that's fine with me. I find it to be an easy way to keep up with friends, especially long distance ones. It's a lot easer to send a comment that says 'hey whats up? :D' than compose a long email or phone call
Plus you can read their profile and see pic and keep updated on their lives even if you rarely talk to eachother. Works out really well for me since all of my friends are long distance.

:)

I do not care for social networking sites. They're filled with young people. Young people are yucky. :eew:

Facebook is actually more evil than Myspace, myspace at the very least allows you to delete your account, whereas Facebook just turns it off and keeps all yer data! And it reactivates the first time you log back on... I know nothing about Twitter.

No facebook for me. I have a myspace, but I haven't been on in forever. I lose interest in most social sites, especially those types. Pointless to me. And most people on myspace are jerks; I don't know about facebook. I don't care. Have better things to waste my time on.

Facebook, as someone mentioned, does not promote any sort of normalcy. If anything, Facebook is nothing more than an extension of real life. Any sort of social interactions that are bound to happen on Facebook are going to be bounded by what can and can't happen in real life. So, sure, if you are on Facebook, you look like less of a freak to your peers... but it doesn't mean that you will have some sort of magical advantage that you can use, like a giant lever, to lift yourself into some greater social dimension. It just means you have easier access to those whom you are friends with in real life, and as a consequence easier access to friends of friends of friends of friends who added you for no particular reason.

Of course, that's not saying that it's impossible to meet people as a consequence of having Facebook (au contraire, I know of several friendships and even a couple relationships that began on Facebook) but they are still bound to the same theorems and rules that bound with whom you socialize in the real world. So it all bogs down to whether it's possible to meet people and build friendships in reality.

That being said, Facebook is the better of the big three social networks. I've had two Myspace accounts and one Facebook account, and both of the Myspaces I have since deleted. Twitter simply makes no sense and is more trendy than much else.

I'm not allowed. I won't go against my mom's wishes just for a website, no matter how cool it may seem.

I agree.

I have a Myspace account. I used to be very active on it. After awhile the "charm" wore off and it became very boring. I only keep the account now to post some of my poems/writings for a few people to read, nothing more.

Photoshop some kids in.

Believe it or not, not everyone is thrilled about having kids - they're not a status symbol... sometimes we wish we could have some alone-time. The grass always seems greener on the other side.

Is there a Wrong Planet group on Facebook? I've not come across one.
