It's very dissapointing Prop 8 was upheld.

Rhode Island and the District of Columbia
are the next to consider gay marriage.

As for Rev. Phelps, he probably doesn't want
to get a clue that portraying a gay character
DOES NOT make you gay.

If I knew that the reason people voted for Prop 8 was purely based on a logical belief that marriage is an institution that should be between a man and a woman i'd be ok with it.....but.....I have the sneaking suspicion that straight people "get off" on denying "queers" equal rights. I think it is the pure joy of knowing that their is someone in society who is inferior to you that makes these anti-gay measures pass not anything else. I don't think people are totally conscious of it, it is a kind of subtle fetish the pure pleasure of being inherently superior/ more powerful than another.

Just shows how many gay haters CA has. If they are against gay marriages, are they against gays too?

How is believing marriage is only between a man and a woman a logical belief? More an emotional/religious belief.

Exactly where in the Bible does it say that marriage should be between a man and a woman? Or did the fundies just make that up?

Anyway, it's ridiculous to base modern law on a book that was written two millennia ago (or ANY religious writings, because of separation of church and state).

Yeah, I don't think Prop 8's passing could be possible with just the religious people being involved. I've watched a lot of the campaign videos and despite the fact that nearly everyone in Hollywood was AGAINST Prop 8 passing...I hate to admit that the people who were for Prop 8 put on a better campaign. It's not merely a case of money, but they were able to convince more people to their side with the kind of show they put on. Their videos as strange as they were very pretty impressive. I wish I could say the same for the anti-Prop 8 campaign but all I've seen on that side during the whole campaign was a bunch of b****ing about the Prop being on the ballot.

That's just my two cents. Sorry to be a negative Nancy but if California is still insistent that they don't want gay marriage (even after all the protests and rioting) then let the gay couples cut their losses and move on to another state. There's been a handful of states that have opened up for gay marriages since the prop passed last November. And I'm plenty sure that more states will join them in the near future.

Actually in Leviticus it says gay men should be executed - though mainstream Christians don't go that far.

^ The problem with that is if you take that part literally, then you might as well take the rest literally too. Like eye for and eye, stoning, not sitting on the same seat if a woman who is "unclean" (ie: having her period) has just sat there, don't wear mixed fibres etc.

Right, I'm familiar with that. Literally nobody follows the entire Buybull literally - Robert Ingersoll once said anyone who completely followed the Old Testament would be in prison and anyone who completely followed the New would be in an insane asylum.
