Seriously.....this is a very educational thread; I'm learning new terms for things every day :)

a cookie is a type of biscuit over here.

Indeed. What we consider cookies are typically larger than biscuits, and they are soft whereas biscuits (which, if you were to translate literally, mean "twice baked") are firm.

General rule, if it is a cake or cookie here, it goes hard when no longer good to eat. Biscuits go soft.

Cookies are hard in the US, primarily. The most "soft" they ever get is a doughy consistency.

If it's soft, it's a cake, automatically. Even Twinkies and Ring Dings are considered "cakes."

I still find it quaint when somebody refers to a shopping cart as a "trolley." Your trams are our trolleys.

That's a good rule but there's always an exception , the cookies I get are biscuits dressed up as cookies , they go soft

Not that is ever a problem as biscuits don't last long in my house once opened

I don't trust the blue packaging. It looks cold.

Ah, Tequilla, it is blue because it is the choc and coconut version. The basic choc chip ones are in a red packet. So you are safe and it is a lovely warm red too. :)

It is probably the coconut that is the reason for the light blue. I'd be willing to sample it.

Being quite the coconut fan, so would I be willing to sample - although I am not sure I would be able to contain myself if they were particularly yummy.

Have you been through the coconut-flavoured confectionery? I once tried an actual coconut some years ago and we weren't friends. Bounty bars were intolerable to me as a child. If they let me out, even briefly, I would make a trip to the nearby supermarket to see what I have missed.

I have tried quite a few things coconutty in my time. But yes, you are right, an actual coconut is so much hard work just to get a small piece.
If they let you out, it could be an arduous walk to the supermarket - it is still deep snow so I imagine it is similar up north.

I see no snow - just bitter cold. I would walk had I a coat I could zip up, but the zip has decoupled from my old fleece that I have here.

What IS that thing?

A candy bar? A container for cookie dough? Actual cookies?

And why is it named after the American state that I live in?

Whatever it is ....it's not available in stores here in its namesake place of Maryland. It would be cute if it were available here. :D

They are little cookies stacked on their side in a long packet. Probably a bit harder than usual cookies... therefore better for dunking. I think I 'd have to have a second cup of tea to get through that lot in one sitting, though.
Don't know why they are named after Maryland. On the other hand, I never found a Kentucky Fried Chicken in the entire state of Kentucky... although my entry on the thread on Object Blindness might explain that one.

We should start a swap shop service where we exchange nice food not available in other countries
