Sometimes I wish it were possible, but I don't believe it can be achieved. Still it can be fun to daydream about what it might be like to travel to the future or visit the past. But that's all it will ever be, just a dream. I would like someone to prove me wrong one day, but that is unlikely. As human beings, we can't even perceive time well enough to understand it. It isn't like a tape one can just rewind or fast forward. In fact if there were no events, such as the rotation of the Earth around the sun, we wouldn't be able to measure time at all. Time as we know it is mostly a man-made construct.

Major Tom? It's pretty good for an amateur video.

Oops. I meant it to go in the random forum. Must've not been paying attention to what I was doing. I just like the music. Anyway I got interested in this discussion and edited my reply.

I'm not saying time doesn't exist. That wouldn't make any sense. I'm just saying that if the sun never set and all our watches and clocks stopped working, we'd be unable to keep track of the passing of time after awhile. Our understanding of time is limited. Sometimes it seems to pass quickly and other times slowly. Even if we could somehow sense the constant passage of time without any outside help, I still don't think we could do anything to change it.

Okay, that makes sense.

I like how you guys are proving that you have way too much time on your hands.

I have advice for you guys:

Why don't you look for jobs?

I farm for a living, so it kind of offends me to see a bunch of lazy slackers wasting their time while I'm busting my butt to make a living.

I look. Just nothing to find. Applications, interviews, nothing. Would you like me to try mind-control?

It offends me that some jerk would hijack my thread to insult me. I do volunteer work, so shut the heck up and get off my thread.

Hey, I wasn't saying anything personal. I just was giving you guys some advice for your own benefit. You should be thanking me.

"a bunch of lazy slackers wasting their time"

Not personal, but a blanket statement. Thank you for being rude? If you have something to say, and if you care about the people you are speaking to, use some etiquette!

I don´t want to learn about etiquette from glossy magazines. Why should I try to talk correct? Say no more about imagery you´re starting to confuse.

We don't live in the same state. We've never met. So how can you just assume you know what my situation is like? And how dare you? Believe it or not, I'm totally blind, so unless I get an education I can't work. That's why I'm going to school. AS and blindness don't exactly make for the best combination when it comes to unskilled manual labor. It's harder for me to observe social things even than it is for you, plus I'm clumsy, plus I'm blind, plus I can't tolerate loud noises, plus strange people shouldn't touch me etc. I probably couldn't flip burgers at McDonalds. So before you talk about how much time I'm wasting, you'd better no exactly who you're talking to. I don't always tell people this just because I don't want your simpathy.

You type and spell very well. I can sort of do it as I am this sentence, typing without seeing the screen that is.

Anyway, and this is to everyone, may we please get back on subject? Subject being generally time-travel and specifically in relation to Callinicus of Heliopolis, the inventor of the incendiary mixture known as Greek Fire back around 650 A.D.? This is an idea for a novel. It assumes that time travel is possible - at the very least in fiction writing, if not in reality depending on the design and construction of this universe.

Any further hijacking attempts, the rude ones at least, will be reported immediately to Quatermass or Sinsboldly via PM.

Thanks. I use a talking screen reader or refreshable braille display and am majoring in computer programing. 666 probably thinks I have a slave chained to my computer desk who types for me. Anyway, what exactly is Greek fire? I've read the Time Machine and a few other stories about time travel. Come to think of it I had a time travel obsession when I was about 11-12.

Uh... tell that to the crowd of the PPR forum, discussing politics, philosophy and religion, pretty much is the same as a waste of time as doing what we are doing here.

Nevertheless, yes you are right, we are somehow wasting time and energy doing this, but it's fun ;)

I wish we would get paid for doing this though.
