Thankyou, Tem; that's really touching. It's great to be back amongst such lovely people.

What? With me as guest of honour? The centre of attention?! 8O :skull:
But... but... but...
[sound of running footsteps gradually fading]
[sound of car starting. Tyres screech. Zooms off into the distance]
[sound of car screeching to a halt]
[sound of aeroplane taking off]
[sound of aeroplane landing]
[sound of lots of buckles being fastened]
[crackly speech: "...3, 2, 1, liftoff"]
[sound of space-rocket lifting off into space]

(NB: Been reading a lot of Spike Milligan over the winter - I'll get over it soon! )

Perhaps we could have a fish finger sandwich with our favourite sauce of choice instead.

A quiet gathering with nobody being the centre of attention. Just quiet.

If it was socially acceptable for adults to have kid style parties, I'd still have them.

In fact, every birthday I do still have a birthday feast :) Just not enough people for traditional party games so I play more grown up (not risqué haha, just more aimed at adults) ones.

I like murder mystery parties too.

^^
I've had a couple of enjoyable celebrations when I've got people together for a picnic in the countryside. It's an environment that I'm so much more comfortable in, and friends with children could bring them along, giving me an excuse to leave the "grown up" conversation for a bit, and join in with the kids' little adventures and their curiosity about nature. It encourages people to take it a bit more easy with the booze, too!

Ha ha, I have just got in from work, had shower, put on fish fingers for tea, sat down at laptop, first notification

UK thread, first comment, FISH FINGERS!

Since they are for dinner I am having them with sweet potato mash, beans, and fried chestnut mushrooms. I hope

that is still acceptable.

Of course it is. We rewrite the rules here as we go.

Also, living alone means you can have whatever you want on your plate as there is nobody to judge.

This is one of the freedoms I have relished for years.

What a relief, that's what mine look like, but all the pictures I found were like the fat ones. I thought maybe I'd

been making them wrong all these years or everyone else had gone American style :?
