^^ ugh, that's a pain
To the folks with kitty annoyances: are these kitties by themselves? No other critters, no other kitties? If so, they're trying to socialize (well duh) - cats are pride animals rather than pack animals, but they do bond and they do need attention and affection. Without another cat, or any other animal to play with, they come to you.
Try to find an arrangement that lets them sit next to you - preferably on your left if you are righthanded - and just stroke them or fuzz them periodically. People don't appreciate that cats can be very loving and feel very lonely, and it hurts them terribly when they turn to us and we turn away or punish them. Just like it hurts us to be frozen out by other people when we want human interaction.
If I'm right about this, finding a way to provide "sidebar attention" may solve your annoyance. The only other thing is, when they're sick, or hurt, they may pester. Keep an eye out for that.
And if I'm suggesting this stuff too late and you're just fed up, please consider re-homing them. What you are describing is not an impediment to adoption. There are no-kill shelters and cat rescues who'll take them and find other homes for them. Your annoyance will become someone else's delight, everyone wins.
