What's the one on the bottom right? The splodge with a load of cream around it? Wouldn't mind that. :)

Two photos of pubs in Lostock Hall:

The ring road around Preston:

Preston Outdoor Market. I was pretty shocked here by just how low the light actually is - 1/40sec at ISO 400 is pretty dark:

Rush-hour traffic on that same ring road in my last post:

One of Meadow Street, a street filled not far from the city centre proper, filled with takeaways and other businesses:

And a night shot of one of the pubs on Meadow Street:

Ooh Tequila those night shots are very good - my camera is rubbish at night and that's rather frustrating.

I'm shooting sans flash. I always shoot this way in low-light.

Have you posted any of your photos here with this camera? Post one here and I might be able to tell your cam through the EXIF data (if the EXIF data is intact that is).

They do, but I'm trying to shoot in the dark at a fast enough shutter speed to avoid blurriness! With a pocket cam, that's asking for trouble.

Oh, and dark portions of the image will show up noise much more than lighter ones will.

Bear in mind that the really noisy ones were shot at ISO 400 and ISO 800.

I'm working on this now. I could shoot RAW but I can't be bothered.

Without. 'Sans' is French for without.

i have the same problem with night ones on my poor nermal camera. super frustrating when something looks beautiful in person and you just can't get it to translate to a photo

I may try +1/3 EV to see if that makes any difference.

if you have a flat surface around you can use the self-timer and a slower shutter speed. those little portable tripods can be good but make you feel a little silly when other people are around haha.

True, but you can't really do that in the street.
