I was bored with no internet and decided to watch a movie, only to find I can't watch any of my Tarantino or Robert Rodriguez DVD's anymore on moral grounds.

Quoth the credits on the back of the cases:

"Executive Producers: Bob & Harvey Weinstein" :x

Water main break south of where I live - they've had to shut down the water plant to fix it (because of where the break is, and where the plant is).

About 5000 households with no running water in 19 degree weather... including mine of course. There will be burst pipes, I'm afraid, for many of us before this is fixed. I've cranked up my heat, I'd rather spend the money on warmth than plumbing repairs.

Excavations and repairs going on through the night, poor guys out in this cold.

True that.

It's a small enough town here that if I get some donuts and two-bite brownies tomorrow, and take them to the water plant, the odds are really good that the guys who did the repair work will get them. Wish I could go out there with coffee for them tonight, but that would just get in their way. Being up to your butt in water and broken pipes in the freezing cold is bad enough without also having to pee because some well meaning idiot lady gave you coffee and put herself in harm's way in your work zone to do it.

Damn, it's cold.

@Ashariel: Thank you, bless you. (Hugs kitten, who purrs.)

Glad you had a good day!

@AuntBlabby: I remember those cold rainy winters from Oregon. And the heating registers in the meshuggeneh ceiling? What genius figured that one?

That's awful. I feel bad for the workers out in the cold here too. I live in Canada so it gets cold here.

^^ They fixed it, bless them, at about 1 a.m. - at which time it was 12F (-11C). I had serious thoughts about taking some brownies etc. to the plant today, to thank the repair crew, but I think I'd better call first to make sure that would be OK. I forget how much things have changed; they're a critical infrastructure utility, so there may be Homeland Security complications, and I wouldn't want to worry the people I mean to thank. Sigh.

(Edit in: Just called them and left the most gracious thank you message I could come up with. I hope I won't be the only person doing that today.)
