thank you but tennis ball won't work for this one, possible Morton's Neuroma. my body's wearing out before my brain, but that is better than if my brain wore out before my body. both suck but the former sucks a bit less.

^^ gotta ditch those 6" stilettos, man. (That actually *is* a primary cause of this type of neuroma, but yes, I'm being a PITA)

Seriously, though, does wearing flipflops or other really unstructured (= no sides, no constriction) footwear help at all?

I have always chosen roomy comfortable shoes, but mine might be a combo of genes and age. my back wore out decades earlier, now it is my feets' turn. I haven't been able to walk barefoot on hard flooring/bare ground in ages, and now this happens even with well-padded shoes. drat. :| it is like a tag team of niggling wore-out part of the body each screaming at me in turn. the things that keep my body from deteriorating ahead of schedule [exercise] only wear out the load-bearing parts even sooner.

That sucks, big time. I'm already old enough that I've lost the fat pads under my feet. Corns resulted. Thought they were plantar warts. Am still walking OK, though. I am really sorry, Blabs.

[@Isabella: not relevant to Blabs' problem, but I really like your avatar.] [Sorry, Blabs.]

I've been using abundantly cushioning orthotics for ages but it is a matter of circulatory problems resulting in chronic pedal edema resulting in increased inter-tarsal pressures resulting in the neuroma. and Esmerelda, I appreciate your compassion

:-) I've seen Isabella helping the same way lately too. And you, too, helping lots of people, for years.

This is a good place.

People coming into my disability service (which I'm a client at) sick. I try to understand but I don't get sick because I have nerve pain and I can't say I don't want to sit next to someone just because they are sick :(
