1. I once had to go to the Emergency Room because of severe sunburn.

I'll go with 1. My lie was 3, in the sense that I came close to doing so, but managed to catch myself just in time.

My first thought was that it was #3. Sometimes, I just think too much LOL

Yep....you're correct....though I did once have a sunburn bad enough that an Emergency Room visit would probably have been the proper thing to do.

I had the sunburn in the 1990s. The two "true occurrences" happened in the 1980s. Both well before the advent of "Urgent Care" storefronts.

Boys I had crushes on:

1. A boy who was in Foster Care who got adopted and moved away before I really got to know him. (I was 13).

2. A boy who told me he was moving to Japan, so that he could stop calling me (but he didn't move) (I was 15).

3. A boy in High School who didn't know I existed. (I was 15 - 16).

4. A boy who was dating my best friend but had no reservations about screwing with my head. (I was 14).

5. A man I met in the 1990s, with whom I was head-over-heels infatuated for nearly a decade. (I was an adult)

Actually, they're all true.
I have only dated ... ? ... three guys ever, from age 16 to now.
I'm sure I mentioned that I have a very limited dating history, and the giant gap in the 2000s didn't help.

Yes, I know him and I know Sylvia's story. I wasn't sure why Kortie mentioned him out of nowhere. I thought I'd missed a connection somehow.


1. I want a break from reading and think I will start knitting for the next few weeks.

2. I'm on a binge-reading spree, with virtally one novel a day lined up for the next two months.

3. I just retrieved 19 novels which had been at my mother's house collecting dust since I left Uni

Yes, Sir Kort. 1 is my lie. I've had scant interest in knitting lately. I ordered a slew of books yesterday and then today I gathered 19 more from my mother's house. I'll be setting up a reading list to keep my mind busy during the summer.

Yes, I could get most books online free but how then would I smell and touch them? I love the feel of books. I need the paper in my hands and my bloodstream. I don't have a tablet (just a phone and a laptop), but I don't like reading any literature on a screen.

I want my old copy of Middlemarch because you know me, I like specific editions and covers which change over time. Mine was Oxford Classics from the 1980s and it had all my marginalia and sticky notes from school. Oh well, it must be somewhere? I'll keep looking. I just hope it isn't going to join my (growing) list of lost treasures.

For my questions, I have no interest in The Secret Garden (idk why), and I've seen a movie of The Velveteen Rabbit so I don't want to read it. I started The Wind in the Willows when I was quite young (about 9?) and found it very challenging. I'd like to read it now. I'll put it on my list lol.

1. I sometimes like reading journal articles, though I'd probably be even more interested if I took a statistics course.

2. I frequently like reading the dictionary.

3. I'm a prescriptivist: I only consider the dictionary definition of a word, rather than various connotations which had developed via the evolution of the language.
