Alas, it was true way back in high school. I only touched it for a split second before I jerked back. As a result, I try to keep the iron no less than 6 inches away from my fingers at all times when working with it.

In 1982:


1. I lived in a roommate situation (non-romantic) with a woman in her 50s—in Greenwich Village.

2. I lived in a house in the Bronx for about two weeks—then the landlord reneged on the loan, and I had to move.

3. I had more than a one-night-stand with a woman who, originally, wanted to make love with me out of loneliness.

My goodness. For a wolf, you sure do get around!

1. I've heard lots of your romantic / non-romantic escapades, but it's hard to recall them all at will.

Alas, it’s #3. She didn’t care for my lovemaking abilities.

Perhaps, I wasn’t experienced enough.

Perhaps, she was TOO experienced.


My roommate tried to make a living as an artist; she was comically inept at art. She tended to take in semi-derelict types from the street; one of them tried to give me advice about how to live my life. The bathtub was located in the kitchen. The bathroom was a “water closet”; you flushed by pulling on a large chain.

It was a nice house in the Bronx. The room was unusual but nice. We had to share a bathroom. It was in a pretty bad area, though.

Perhaps you just weren't compatible. It doesn't have to be anyone's fault.

1. I built a bird feeder on NYE 1976, and hung it in my garden in the dark, during a snowstorm.

2. I made it out of popsicle sticks and filled it with sunflower seeds.

3. I was listening to New Kid in Town by The Eagles while I built the bird feeder.

I can’t help but think that the year was 1977.

It was 1976. My cousin from California sent me a vinyl of Hotel California, which had just been released. At the time I thought there was a famous hotel called "California". Then I assumed it was just make-believe. I didn't stop and realize that "Hotel California" was a metaphor about fame until maybe ten years ago.

Anyway,
1 is true.
2 is my lie. I made it out of a milk jug.
3 is true. I still get shivers when I hear the song. Plus, I ended up being the new kid in town in LA when I was 16.

By "NYE 1976" I mean December 31, 1976 ... not the night between 75 - 76.

Glenn Frey passed away a couple of years ago.

I didn’t get the meaning of the song until I was older, as well. The first song by the Eagles that I heard was “Take it Easy.”

Also in 1982:

1. I moved into an apartment at 9 Nixon Court, in Brooklyn.

2. I had a date with a girl. We had a nice, romantic time walking along the East River, and speculating what was going on with the people in the buildings on Governor’s Island, whose lights we saw from the river.

3. This was the start of a beautiful friendship.

I hope 2 and 3 are true because they sound so sweet.

I love Take It Easy. It reminds me of my brother and, to a lesser extent, one of my female cousins who is a golfer.

It was #3. We had a nice date; but I believe she thought I was too short.

I moved into 9 Nixon Court after spending two weeks with a friend. This was right after the failed “Bronx experiment.”

Correction: Not "she thought I was too short", but rather "she was prejudiced and somewhat immature".

I follow both ladies’ and men’s golf. For some reason, I’m thinking about Nancy Gulbis.

To the best of my knowledge my cousin isn't famous but she plays golf all over US, Canada, and the UK. I don't think she's gone pro but I really have no clue. We don't speak much. Maybe I'll ask my mother sometime. No, that isn't her name (Nancy).

For some reason Bugs Bunny has always reminded me of my cousin -- I have no idea why.

In 1977:

1. I walked into school wearing what I thought was a “pimp outfit.” Of course, I was mocked.

2. We had a blackout in New York City; our electricity remained on, though.

3. I succeeded in coming into Manhattan, to hang out with other people “celebrating” the Blackout. I has a chance to meet a girl that day.
