some sort of soup

i almost didn't eat dinner because of this medicine i take. the medicine makes me indifferent to food. today at lunch i hardly ate. i took one bite of food and thought...i don't care. i could taste the food but i didn't enjoy it.

I think that my schedule is way out of sync, and that it is causing lots of troubles with school since I can't get into a patern. Oh, why must things change so often?

I also think that my day was successful, even though I totally didn't pay attention in class today. Why was it successful? Because (a) I got two of my siblings hooked on 24 and (b) in Linguistics today I realized exactly how much I've got 24 on my brain. We were talking about phonetic differences in languages, specifically English and Arabic. The example he used was Ahmed and how it is extraordinarily difficult for english speakers to pronounce it correctly. It made me laugh because anyone who has seen 24 s6e2 will see how perfect that choice of example was. I laughed, and continued to smile for the rest of the day.

I think Arabic is a beautiful language, one that I am trying to teach myself. It is a little more difficult that I imagined it would be, but when it is spoken natively, it sounds so musical almost. We aren't actually learning Arabic, we were just commenting on the "th" sounds in English being difficult for non-english speakers to pronounce, and the "kh" sound that Arabic has that we butcher. (What's funny about that is in 24 s6e2, an Arab teenager terrorist responds to his friend by saying "Friends? You can't even pronounce my name. It's ACHMED, not Ahmed.")
