Very nice.

I have a Meade LX200 10" (the original "Classic" version) plus field tripod and a Meade ETX90. Solar filters for both: I had a sunspot phase too...
I'd got a Nikon Coolpix 4500 mount and managed a few reasonably successful moon shots plus one of Saturn and Jupiter (not as good as yours), then moved onto the D70 and D3 but by now I was more into photography (again) than astronomy (again) so the scopes and eyepieces are all "retired" in boxes now.

The scopes were impulse purchases really: the light pollution is appalling here so they've seen very little use, but I had the money and a resurrected interest, so...

Thanks.
I'm (attempting to) save up for an orion sirius 8. I was thinking about the celestron advanced series scopes but I can't stand the sound the mount makes! It's a small detail but it drives me nuts! The sirius is an all around better mount, and it uses stepper motors so it's quiet.

I live 10 miles south of downtown st louis so I know what you mean about light pollution

Heh yeah. I had the same problem with the LX200: what a racket that thing makes. It's good, but whines horribly.
I think the current models would be quieter (and they have much better focusing gear) but interests have moved on.

I consider it good viewing if I can make out maybe 7 stars. Usually it's just a uniform sickly yellow sky because of the sodium street lights and clouds, but just occasionally things open up a little and I actually manage to see the Pleiades. Sad to say that that's a real achievement around here...
I did get a ridiculously expensive light pollution filter (about $150 IIRC) which fitted in the eyepiece and worked extremely well, but I got fed up with not having enough space (and no garden at all) to set up the scope at least semi-permanently.

Nice moon shots too - showing the colouring, which was a good surprise when I first saw it: it's not a dull grey at all.

These are the two pics I'm most proud of. The Orion nebula and Jupiter.

Wow, did you take those? That's awesome! I love the little Jupiter there.

Anish Kapoor...

I don't really care for his work. We went to the Guggenheim in Bilbao and where greeted with pictures of all his work (what you are touching in the picture also, a miniature model). Rooms full of clay turds stacked... sand sculptures and messy wax. And a wax cannon they fire... :?

I would like to see "the bean" tho..
