Not that I actually use pills, and I use pins, not nails, but still... I hit just the right spot and bled all over the place from just a pinprick, and once I got that under control, I still wasn't satisfied.

have you tried the rubber band around your wrist to snap against your wrist. sometimes the twinge can forestall worse self-harm. i hope you clean your needle well. i'm sorry that you're feeling frustration.
I tried that for a couple weeks, but it doesn't work as well for me since it's the blood I'm really after, not the pain. I suppose I should at least give red food coloring a try, although I think a significant part of the thrill comes from knowing it's my blood, so I don't know that it will work well. It can't hurt to try, though. I've been getting lazy recently, thank you for reminding me that I really ought to at least be cleaning things before use - I
really don't want to have a self-inflicted wound getting infected.
