It defiantly sounds like a cool project to work on, haven't done much like it before but I bet I could accomplish it.
I'll make it in Garry's Mod with Wiremod first, may sound silly but it does have wires, motors, programming, etc. It'd be a start.
I'll probably buy a car first though.
It's more important(I laugh as I say this ).

I'd keep it and show it off to every gamer I ever meet, just for the fun of it.
Also, it's fun to have a portal turret talking when you attempt to use a webcam.
I'd add a second switch that enables "randomness", every once in a while it'd just open quickly and say something.
Be funny if I forgot to turn it off and it yelled at 3 am

Well I live in the middle of nowhere so no-one is going to come out here and steal it or anything.

Oh, it'd wake me up as it slowly says, in the turret voice "I seee you!"
That'd be the creepiest funniest thing ever.
It'd also say hello/goodbye.
If I found some directional sensors, I could make it use the broken turret voice if it isn't upright.
Of course it would defiantly need a mute button...
Something tells me this will be slightly less than cheap

Yes it would, I'd put it next to people when they sleep.
If I do that though, It'd need reinforced steel armor
If it did not have a mute button I'd jump through the ceiling
Maybe it needs headphone jacks so I can plug my giant surround sound speakers into it!
I know some people who could help with parts and construction.
I recently ordered a programmable logic chip with some parts that could all be used, I'd need to buy the case parts(and required screws to assemble and such), 2 motors, 2 motor control modules, a mic module, a camera module and a speaker module.
But they;d need to be the right modules, so like the logic chip I'd have to have them shipped from the UK and the postage can cost a bit, plus finding them in stock can be hard sometimes.
All worth it though, my brothers would be dead jealous of it.
