I've dissected a rat in freshman year biology. I didn't take my school's anatomy class, but they dissect cats in that class.
(So, those cats are 100% certain to be dead.)

We actually designed the ventilator ourselves :D
The first time, we removed the entire digestive tract and circulation system then sewed it up. It became really coke bottle like.
