I'm very ready to get a job - I really wish my therapy stuff wasn't preventing me from doing so at the moment. I'm tired of feeling useless and parasitic - I want to be doing something and earning money.
you didn't ask to have a disability. some folks are lucky. some folks less so. not your fault. if you can work -great. if not, contribute via volunteer work, on WP as you do, or by being loving toward those around you -also great.
The thing is, I feel like I
could work, if I could get hired and had the time (which is less of an issue because this therapy thing that takes up a good part of my day every weekday is only temporary).
do they have peer specialists in your state? in that job, having a mental illness is a requirement. it's how i broke back into the workforce after a long period with no job. volunteer work and a paper route qualified me for the position. school also would have qualified me. anything to show responsibility and recovery.
I wish I could do that kind of thing, but I don't think it's possible for me, at least not for a very long time. I don't even know how to help myself, let alone other people in different situations than me. I have to be in
exactly the right mood/mindset to even be able to offer words of support, and it takes a good half hour or so for me to come up with the words and make sure I'm not messing anything up - I would probably be too nervous/overwhelmed to say anything at all when talking to someone in person. And as it stands, I'm still not doing very well myself. Thank you for the suggestion, though - it sounds like a great thing to do if I'm ever able.
