I used to have a shower at work every morning when I cycled there and sometimes the water was freezing
I still got under it though because I had to or I would stink all day

I wonder if kids even know who Miku is, outside of "that girl from Fortnite".

They probably don't even know she wrote Harry Potter and developed Minecraft. :nerdy:

...MIKU WAS IN FORTNITE???

I stank of Deep Heat cream at work once. But it was either that or have the itches all day, so they lost out. Anyway Deep Heat cream doesn't stink half as bad as what you (or I) would have stunk like. You should have heard the flak I got. They couldn't shame me though. Sometimes you just have to stand up for your right not to itch. What's a whiff of Deep Heat cream compared to that?

I'd rather stink of deep heat than stink all day of my 10 mile bike ride in all flipping weather's

I used to look and smell like they'd dug me up sometimes when I go there

I knew of a bloke who cycled to work and would lock himself in the gents' toilets for half an hour every morning. You could hear frantic scrubbing noises from in there while you were waiting desperately to have a whizz. We had a theory that he was cleaning his bike. I mean you don't have to scrub like that to get the stink off your body, do you?

Idk mate but I used to be filthy and I swear the weather used to conspire against me as well because the wind was against me both ways and it rained almost every day when I worked there

The worst of it was getting through the beast from the east

Skews my language but it was flocking awful and I don't miss it not one bit

Cycling keeps you fit, I'll say that for it. But it's no fun in winter.

I don't know if it kept me fit

I felt like a flipping cripple after doing that for nigh on 7 years

My hair was falling out as well and I reckon it was to do with sweating so much with the helmet on because it's back to full strength now

I had PTSD because of all the crashes and near misses I had

I did used to release a lot of anger out there to be fair

It's like jeopardy on the roads in rush hour going through Manchester. There's hardly any cycle lanes

It is nuts

I cycle on the pavement if there's no cycle track and the traffic looks dangerous. But I'm very careful not to scare pedestrians. I never wore a helmet, which explains why I broke my teeth that time. I wouldn't have fallen off if the bike hadn't developed a crack in the steering column and collapsed under me. It was a very old bike. I never had a bad accident apart from that. Nobody wore helmets when I was a lad. I find them cumbersome.

You'd wear a helmet if you've seen some of the crashes I've been in

I used to just jump straight back on though because I was full of adrenaline and then later on notice how badi was injured

My legs are absolutely shot and my back
I don't know how I manage skateboarding but something else takes over

When I was a kid I used to sit perched on my window ledge and I would whistle loudly into the night and from across the estate someone always used to whistle back

I never knew who

Nice memory that though

I used to be a bit of a nutter when I was in my 40s. If another cyclist overtook me I'd be obsessed with overtaking him, regardless of innocent bystanders. Luckily I realised that I was becoming a danger to self and others, and I sobered up. I figured it was a mid-life crisis thing, not being able to accept that younger people could overtake me. It was hard to learn to let them do it, but better than carrying on like I was. I did all that self-growth without a therapist too. Self-made mature man, I am.

I wasn't bothered about other cyclists it was more drivers trying to kill me

People change when they're in the road

I swear there aren't that many psychopaths in walking life as there are in driving and cycling life

It literally is dog eating dog and people would happily kill you just to beat a red light

I knew cars were trying to kill me so I just rode on the pavement. There aren't any coppers any more, and even if I had got arrested they wouldn't have executed me. I got a caution once for going the wrong way down a one-way street in the town centre, but that was during my mid-life crisis so it doesn't count. And I didn't get arrested, I just got a letter reminding me to comply with the civil law. So I kind of obeyed that.

When I'm talking to someone in the big wide world there's like a million different choices of how I could respond to what they're saying and the hard part is nailing it with the right choice

I think if I just calmed myself down I'd probably be OK

I have noticed this too. I have experienced cars accelerating towards me as I have crossed the road at times. It is as though being in a vehicle goes to some people's head and they feel as though they are almighty towards pedestrians, in their steel overlords.
