The Welsh language is my least favorite of the 6 Celtic languages, and I haven't Welsh ancestry, so I don't care for it much. :P Scotland is often cloudy, which is still much better than sunny.

Scotland is one of the locations I'd love to live in someday (the others being Norway and Basque Country). I love it, it's beautiful, and I love the climate and weather. And I love Scottish Gaelic.

Likewise on the rain. :) I always thought I would like Scotland and Norway as well. I'm sorry to say I have only very little knowledge of Gaelic of any variety, however. And I'm quite ignorant on Basque Country, aside from its location

I've seen a couple bits of QI, it's a cool show. 8) I love etymology, but since I hate this country I've never bothered to care where the name America came from. :P

I have Scottish and Norwegian ancestry, so that's what first got me into liking those places. I'm going to start learning Scottish Gaelic soon though. Norwegian I need to start relearning, but 4 languages at the same time would be too much.

The Basque Country of course speaks Basque (well, the people that matter anyways. Everyone speaks Spanish/French at least :P ), which is unrelated to any other language. I'm learning it to fluency, and already half-way there. I have no Basque ancestry, I just love the country and culture and people and everything. Being close to the Pyrenees means that there are many beautiful green hills and valleys there. If you care to see what it looks like, and hear some Basque, this song has some amazing video of the Basque Country. ;) (There's a translation in the comments.)

As you can tell I can talk a lot about languages and stuff. Image

What's on my my mind rite now is Miranda Cosgrove but she usually is. I'm listening to Paula Abdul & noticing some similarities between some of Paula's & Miranda's songs; it's all good :D

Yes, my aunt was quite interested in it and made an extensive family tree. I am German, Norwegian, Scottish, Irish, English, French, and some Native American tribe, but she couldn't find out which. I am very pale, since the Norwegian comes from my dad's side, but my mom's side has dark-ish skin, coming from the Native American in them.

Maltese, awesome. 8) I have several songs in Maltese, it's a cool language. One is one of my favorite songs; all were in Eurovision. Have you ever watched that? I first watched it last year, I love it.

Here's the song:

I've completely memorized the lyrics, and can sing along with it.

oddly enough i used to watch eurovision evey year with my nana, didn't like the music too much but liked the scoring and how each country introduced itself.
wow that's a diverse mix of genes. i hope to find out more about my own, there are some famous english admirals that share my surname, so i'm hoping for that lol
i always remember my nana and her sister talking maltese during family card games annd winning a fair amount of money :? but they're both very sweet so nobody minded.
also when the wars in afghanistan and iraq started i was living with her and she'd often recognise some of the arabic in the news reports.
i will listen now, though i only know how to say 'big bum mum' in maltese lol her unofficial but known to her nickname. no idea how to spell it. sounds like ' pa ta ta hoosh na' ;)

dunbots: Thanks for the link. It looks beautiful there. The language sounds interesting, too.
