Hmm yes, very droll... :P

Although, unlike the wealthy doctors who ordered and paid for the cadavers, not necessarily scot-free:

Perhaps worse, the whole affair gave rise to the Anatomy Act of 1832 (shockingly, only repealed as recently as 1984) which gave the medical profession rights to the corpses of criminals and the poor, where not claimed by relatives:

Quote:
The Anatomy Act provided for the needs of physicians, surgeons and students by giving them legal access to corpses that were unclaimed after death, in particular corpses of those who had died in prison or a workhouse.

Here we go, then.

In my opinion, on a symbolical level, the Old Testament is a description of human life with its ups and downs, falling down and rising up again, good guys, bad guys, dos and donts. Bizarre behaviour, odd characters. Wisdom and sheer stupidity. It's all about you and me.

So very much is repeated over and over in human history....pride and greed/selfishness causing tragedy.

^ so true on an individual scale as well as the earth-size one. That is where for me the Light shows a way where I'd never otherwise be able to proceed.

Oh, well you wondered whether Jews were welcome so I suppose it was my way of welcoming. :)

Hello fellow Theist Aspies,

Please keep me and my sister in your thoughts & prayers as we both return to school at the end of the month. My sister plans on finishing her degree and it will be my first year as a transfer student at Portland State University after six years at Portland Community College.

-Brother AA

I will try to add fellow Theist Aspies who are looking forward to a new beginning at a new school/college/university, but the problem is I have difficulties concentrating while saying my prayers.

If you have posted on this thread and have difficulties concentrating while praying, what do you do to take care of it?

I have a lot of trouble with that, and then a month or so ago I came across this quote. It is Catholic based, hope you don't mind. The idea of keeping my heart open while praying somehow turned my mind nicely quiet for awhile.

?Remember that the graces and favors of prayer do not come from earth but from heaven and therefore that no effort of ours can acquire them, although, it is true, we must dispose ourselves for their reception diligently, yet withal humbly and tranquilly. We ought to keep our hearts wide open and await the blessed dew from heaven.?
? St. Francis de Sales

edited to add that I didn't notice that you said you are Catholic. I am re-studying it to possibly re-join.

If you have any questions about the Catholic faith, PM me or any other WP members who are also Catholic.
