Found young puffballs on my morning walk. Gathered them up and sautéed them with spinach and eggs. Yum!

Wow, those blue ones and the red one above look really cool. The red one reminds me of a warped dog toy.

This is a bolete. I am not sure what kind, but I am able to eat it safely because I know two rules about it. Do not eat boletes with red tubes. Do not eat boletes whose flesh stains blue. Note: This is just for illustrative purposes. Do not eat any wild fungi unless you are experienced and trained. This is the top of the bolete:



This is the underside, where you see the tubes, which is what makes this fungus a bolete and you can see that the tubes are not red:



A cut into the "meat" of the mushroom shows that it does not stain blue:



You only eat the "meat" of the fungus. The tubes can be kind of slimy and not appetizing:
