I lost around 300 poems in 1989. I left them at a hotel room I was staying at in between apartments.

No, but I do have two degrees.

You went to "Public" school in the UK?

I didn't go to private school.

Do you think you know what I studied in University?

I would imagine English Literature, ultimately----but perhaps you had another major originally.

My original major when I started college was Accounting. Then I changed to Speech Pathology and English.

You're right. I studied 19th century British Literature.

My first degree was dual English / Linguistics.

I really enjoyed George Eliot's "Middlemarch." And the works of Charles Dickens.

I learned, from reading "Tom Jones" (18th century, of course), that the vernacular language in present-day Appalachia is very close to the vernacular language in 18th century England.


1. I presented a paper on phonetics and applied linguistics for "Honors Day" (badly).

2. I graduated Summa cum laude.

3. I was 17 when I first went "all the way" with a girl.

I liked Chomsky's theories of language acquisition----but theoretical linguistics is a little too abstract for me.

I enjoy applied linguistics very much, because of the concrete nature of the discipline.

I love George Eliot!! !! She wrote an incredible review of Villette.

I also love Thomas Hardy. The Mayor of Casterbridge and Jude were my favourites. Oh, and Tess. And Blue Eyes.

Great Expectations and Bleak House are my favourite Dickens. I haven't read much 18c Lit, but enjoyed Pamela.

I enjoyed "The Mayor of Casterbridge" and "Bleak House." I read "Clarissa," but not "Pamela."

"Bleak House" is, partially, a satire on judicial backlog. I work in the court system of NY County (on the prosecutorial side, as a data entry person).

I was say #3, though I can't see you not making a SINGLE FRIEND in high school, owing to your exuberant nature.

I spent every spare moment of high school hiding in the library (every lunch break, every study hall).
I didn't make any friends at all because I was terrified, especially of the girls.

So, which of my other two is false?

Casterbridge was pretty crazy, don't you think? Yes, I can see a similarity with Bleak House and your work.

You probably didn't legally change your first name 9 years ago----but perhaps 12 years ago?

Or maybe you wanted to change it to Isabella---but felt constrained about it.

I started the process nine years ago but it wasn't legal until 8 years ago. So #1 is my lie.
