I'm not too bad I suppose. Hope you feel a bit better soon z3n. Most older netbooks I've come across have been rather under powered. I think its to keep the heat down with the limited space that there is for air flow, but their getting better nowadays. My own health is fine, but my bored mind is rotting away. I think I need to find more things to occupy my time.

I know what you mean about boredom, as I get that a lot, particularly at weekends. I hardly use my netbook any more; I tend to use my tablet now. Still, if I was going to give presentations anywhere (unlikely now), I'd use the netbook for that.

If I had a job it wouldn't be as bad, but had a hard time finding anything suitable. And when I do I don't tend to get a reply at all. What line of work have you been in that required giving presentations?

Grr, I hated that about applying for jobs. It's quite rude of them not to reply really . What kind of work are you looking for?

I did a PhD and it's usual for PhD students to give talks at conferences.

I agree, even if its just a notification that the position has been filled would be fine. Nothing in particular, just something that doesn't set off my anxiety. I'm qualified for computer networking, but most related positions seem to have the requirements of 2 workers. Seems to be the way their saving money now.

Yeah, I've been working as a software engineer since the beginning of this year. Still, it was really hard to find work, I found. Must've applied for 60-70 jobs or so, if not more and had quite a few interviews but only one offer.

I've been out of uni for quite a while, after college I went to uni for a brief period but left due to the wrong choice of course. Also, I found the set up at my local university to be quite hectic. Rooms changing without proper notice, timetable changes, and vague assignments. Also, the amount of people there was quite an overwhelming change. I don't think I would go back unless I had to, its not for me.

I've heard software engineering is quite suited to those with aspegers. There's even a company that has a location in Scotland called Specialisterne that takes those who are diagnosed and gives them a 6 month work trial in the software area, which could lead some to being hired by the company.

Yeah, fair enough if you didn't find uni was right for you. I'm not too sure what to suggest, though. I guess you just need relevant work experience and obviously that's hard to get if you've not had a proper job before . Even your own projects can be useful to demonstrate that you can do stuff (though I imagine that's easier for programming than networking!). I'm not very good at advice, lol :/. LinkedIn is supposed to be good for networking and getting jobs and stuff.

Hmm, I imagine there are probably people with Asperger's for whom software engineering wouldn't be suitable, though . That does sound like a good scheme, though

I'm disappointed it never worked out, but not much I can do about it. I actually had 3 months of experience before I started college. I'd obviously like to build on that in some form though. Perhaps even away from networking, since I never felt too passionate about it to be honest. I wasn't seeking advice, but thank you for your input

Of course its not suited to all on the spectrum, otherwise I would of went for it myself. I guess people with aspergers must have a high success rate in that line of work. I have a stronger logical side myself, but I'm not a coding enthusiast. I can do when I'm in the zone, but it does gives me a headache after a while! No worries, goodnight z3n.
