I confess that I am totally, utterly, fantastically, and even terminally, bored.

Lo and behold, it actually believes that the earth doesn't move. They're very... vicious in their belief. Plus they have all these graphs and "evidence" and theories about why people think it moves... They're very into this.

Naturally, it's their right to believe whatever they want. If the Earth not moving makes them happy, then fine.

I confess that I simply didn't realize that anyone believed that though.

Yes...it is their right to believe whatever they want, but I must confess it disturbs me that there are people that ignorant and blind. That might be worse than the creationism museum in Northern Kentucky, outside Cincinnati. Well...maybe not.

As for the commercialization of the season, well...it is not the actual real time the guy was born anyway, so what difference does it make? I only celebrate "the holidays", so don't care. Humans are greedy and selfish and capitalism feeds those traits.

About the commercialization of Christmas?

well yes, i am unmatirelistic myself but i really think lately the meaning of christmas has died. does anyone feel the same?

I am not religious, though I used to be quite devout. I definitely empathize with your concern. It did not seem appropriate to me, before, that Jesus' birthday was obscured by everybody's parties and gifts and bustling about. I celebrated Advent and spent a lot of time at church during this season, before.

Now I realize just how much it means to people of all faiths (or none at all), to have a time of year to focus on being close with family and friends. The commercialization is a side effect of that, and in one sense it is unfortunate... but it also provides an opportunity for people to learn the joy of giving, who might not have been inclined to do so otherwise. There are good things and bad things about all these habits and customs but I think there are more good things than bad... though lately I just have a cheery outlook about this sort of stuff.

I hope you have a very Merry Christmas with your loved ones. :)

With all this talk of Christmas:

I confess I'm a little sad that I cannot spend Christmas in the physical presence of Heather; I'm not religious, but I'm accustomed to spending time with loved ones on Jesus' birthday (I'm a creature of habit after all).

I confess my mom's been pissing me off lately. She gave me $80 to go buy my brother a "nice" Xmas present from her, and then asked me to buy her lottery tickets and some groceries with that money too. That's her passive-aggressive way to get me to "pitch in" on her present for my brother. Grrrr.

I confess I've been feeling rather depressed. Lately all I want to do is go to bed around 5 PM and stay in bed until noon the next day.

I confess that part of the reason I'm depressed is my hormones telling me I need to have a baby soon before my ovaries expire. For some cruel reason, my hormones like to remind me that I'm middle aged and still childless right around Xmas. :?
