I used to drink special brew from the tin when I was sudying electronics at Fleetwood Nautical College in my teens. I didn't have a fridge so just used to try and chill it a bit in the sink. :P

On the gin and diet ginger ale this afternoon.

Yea, I remember Thresher. The only off licence chain I see these days is Bargain Booze.

On the gin and diet ginger ale again tonight.

Asda 'Zesty & Vibrant' white wine. Very cheap at £3.54 a bottle, but fairly nice.

I should be delighted then to be able to pick up a decent Bordeaux for @2€50, but unfortunately, I’m on doctors orders. Anyone in the same boat? Don’t even think about sneaking a few drinks in moderation; quitting completely is a lot easier in the long term.

Bud light is 3.4 ABV/percent in England

If you had a small amount of lemonade squirted on top (shandy top) how many points would the strength of the beer go down?

It depends on what "a small amount of lemonade" is, but assuming that's 20mL it can be easily calculated.

Half a pint (284mL) at 3.4 ABV/percent contains 9.66mL of alcohol
Adding 20mL lemonade increases the volume of liquid to 304mL
The original 9.66mL of alcohol is still there, but it's now in 304mL = 3.16% ABV

Therefore the strength of the beer would go down by 0.24% - or in technical terms, "bugger all".

Obviously the result can be improved with an accurate measurement of lemonade.

Wine does seem to be very cheap in some other European countries, especially the Mediterranean ones. I remember buying bottles of Spanish Cava for around 80 pence and a fairly nice Italian red wine from vineyards on Mount Vesuvius for £1. Mind you, that was over 20 years ago, but even then the prices of these same drinks in the UK would've been four times those amounts.
