near, almost, proof of the human aura:

kirlian photography:
Kirlian photography is a like a photogram only it is made with voltage. basically that means that when an object on a photographic plate is connected to a source of voltage an image will be produced on that photographic plate.thus the method has to be used with physical contact of the object.

aura:
semyon Kirlian ,inventor of kirlian photography, said that the image being created might be compared with the human aura.

An experimentAn experiment in evidence of energy fields generated by living entities involves taking Kirlian contact photographs of a picked leaf at set periods, its gradual withering corresponding with a decline in the strength of the aura. In some experiments, if a section of a leaf was torn away after the first photograph, a faint image of the missing section would remain when a second photograph was taken.

the experiment was meet with much criticism...e.g James Randi has suggested that this effect was due to contamination of the glass plates, which were reused for both the "before" and "after" photographs.

here is a kirlian photograph:

To be honest I dont beleive this ''aura'' thing^^^^ it is ''quite'' interesting however to see the effects of a voltage on different materials...AND the photographs are really cool!! :D

The ancient Persians invented the first postal system and the first bill of rights. The latter is the Cyrus Cylinder, which is in possession of the British Museum.

This, as with most ancient history, is disputable and open to interpretation, because politicians have been using propaganda since ancient times, so it's hard to know how much truth there is to what was written.

More trivia but anecdotal :

I had a friend/acquaintance who served 6 years on a nuclear submarine in Vietnam, and one day I asked him how much firepower the vessel had. " 20 missiles with 3 warheads a piece, making 60 warheads total," he said.

How big and where to I asked ? " A 1.5 megaton yield per warhead, and where they were going specifically was classified," but said "Russia and China."

Great guitar playing! I love the slapping at the start of the first video and the second video simply makes me want a steel stringed acoustic. Damn, I need a steel stringed acoustic!

On the topic of blues, I remember something once said by Seasick Steve about the differences between Tramps, Bums and Hobos.

* A tramp is a homeless person that will travel around and not look for work, usually supporting themself by begging and scavenging.

* A Bum is a homeless person that will not travel, and prefers to stay in one place and beg.

* A Hobo is a homeless person that travels around, looking for work.

glad you enjoyed it.. that guy gives me goosebumps, really makes a guitar sing :)

thanks Zen.

The "Immortals" was the name given by Herodotus to an elite force of soldiers who fought for the Achaemenid Empire. This force performed the dual roles of both Imperial Guard and standing army during the Persian Empire's expansion and during the Greco-Persian Wars. Its Persian name may have been Anûsiya ('companions').

Herodotus describes the 'Immortals' as being heavy infantry led by Hydarnes that were kept constantly at a strength of exactly 10,000 men. He claimed that the unit's name stemmed from the custom that every killed, seriously wounded or sick member was immediately replaced with a new one, maintaining the cohesion of the unit.

The regiment accepted only Median, Elamite or Persian applicants. This elite corps is only called the 'Immortals' in sources based on Herodotus. Whilst there is evidence for them from Persia, this does not mention this name for them."Probably, Herodotus' informant has confused the name Anûsiya ('companions') with Anausa ('Immortals')."
more persian trivia.. :)

another one of fudo's favourite guitarists, i only post it here because the poor guy is almost unheard of and tragically unappreciated :/ but hopefully one day this will change. plus he once said nice things about fudo's music and offered constructive criticism. :)

from QI's column in the telegraph, november 2010.

Anything worth doing is worth doing slowly
Mae West

Slow notes
The longest and slowest piece of music in history is John Cage's 'As Slow as Possible', originally written in 1985 as a 20-minute piece for piano.
After Cage's death in 1992, a conference of philosophers and musicians set themselves the task of seeing just how long the eight-page score could last. As a result, it was adapted for organ and has been playing since 2001 at the church of St Burchardi in Halberstadt, Germany. It is planned to last 639 years, the first organ in Halberstadt having been built 639 years earlier. After kicking off with a 17-month pause, the organ's six pipes have managed eight chord changes since and a new chord is due on February 5 2011.

To check on progress, or to order a (somewhat faster) CD, visit www.john-cage.halberstadt.de

from the site..
Organizers in Halberstadt rejected questions about what it all means."It doesn't mean anything," one of them said. "It's just there."
Other works by avant-garde composer Cage include one piece that consists of four minutes and 33 seconds of silence.

That's a fun song.

Fudo, how is it not considered a "song"?
