Attending a Vigil Mass at a church I love and hadn't been to for some time, enjoying a good catch-up with the priest, a man I deeply admire, afterwards.

Also, a kebab and chips (fries).

Raleigh is back.

My freestyles are starting to actually sound decent. I'm starting to get the hang of how to basically come up with 'jazz improvisations' for how to arrange the syllables in order to create interesting interactions between the flow and the beat I'm spitting over.

Listening to hours of freestyles instead of just listening to album releases of songs is paying off.

If you can freestyle, you are amazing.

I also have to listen for hours before I can "hear" what is going on. Good for you!

To be fair, it's mostly been a matter of investing hours of work. I don't think I was ever this dedicated with guitar which is why I only got to the point of playing simple but fast stuff. I made up for lack of skill as a guitar player with composition skill I learned making electronic music.

I'm more dedicated to trying to be a virtuoso emcee, so it's easy to spend my whole day at work rapping quietly under the machine noise, and then hours in the evening doing the same only I can also record and listen back. Actually, I bring a voice recorder to work so I can make notes of ideas to expand on later.

Also, a lot of the people I pay attention to are known for lyricism, density and speed, so it kinda forces me in that direction too. Just like shred guitar players who only listen to other shred guitar players. You'll get good on a technical level even if no one finds you catchy or interesting on a deeper level.

Today I unboxed my mountain bike. It's been packed away since April after I finished a 3000 mile trip across India on it.

I didn't write about the trip on WP but it was quite a hardcore experience which sometimes reduced me to nervous and physical exauhstion.

It was nice to see the bike that took me on the journey and wash the mud off it.

I used to do singletrack mountain biking, but stopped after an injury at Whistler Blackcomb.
