I as still a young pup can't match the wolfman's escapades.

While Kortie was cavorting in 1986, I was:

1. Dating my first boyfriend who was quite a bit older than I was, but had an intense inner child and a love of literature.

2. Obsessed with Ezra Pound and James Joyce, whom I thought I could emulate as a writer.

3. Moving back home after two years of hell in never-never land.

Alas, my Lie is #3.

We didn't make out in the apartment vestibule. Instead, two guys (one of whom was her boyfriend) took about $200 from me. She set me up! Luckily, I had a subway token in a different pocket of my pants, so I was able to get home that night.

I was stupid enough to ask this woman for a date the next week!

#1 is true. I was invited to Small's Paradise by this woman. She was a lounge sort of singer. She had an entourage. She made me dislike entourages to this day. She actually dispatched two men to escort me to that subway station I mentioned.

#2 is the lady with the "Palm Tree Hair" whom I mentioned previously.

#2 for Isabella. You found the (later) Joyce and Ezra Pound to be obscure Modernists. You love the "sense and sensibility" (yet realism) of Victorian literature (even though you don't like Jane Austen, and she wasn't a Victorian).

You're so perceptive for a wolf!

Yes, you're 100% correct! (Pound, of all people?!) 8)

In 1981:

1. I read a poem at a poetry reading. I was accused of "obscenity" by this guy who liked to write about seagulls. The "obscenity" was because I mentioned a lesbian bar known as the "Duchess."

2. A couple of days later, this same guy (who happened to be one of my co-workers) threw a cup of hot coffee on me. He was fired the next day.

3. This same guy once introduced me to the son of Dick Haymes, famous big-band singer.

...he liked to write about seagulls? was he autistic? that seems like an unusually narrow special interest...

I think 3 because you didn't mention shaking Dick's hand, as you normally would.

Right again, Ms. Sublimity

This guy would constantly remind me that he knew the son of Dick Haymes. I didn't care; I had never heard of Dick Haymes previously LOL.

He was an alcoholic and had some other sort of mental illness; perhaps a subtle form of schizophrenia? When I was 20 years old, he was in his 60s.

He read that poem about seagulls like his life depended on it. He intoned "Coin, COIN, COIN" at the top of his lungs!

So, he was autistic then? 8)

1. I wrote ten pages in my journal last night after reflecting on all the events of the day. I'm thinking of publishing my entry in a local magazine with the title "Spin Cycle".

2. I'm experiencing so much conflicted emotion this week that I've given up on trying to identify how I feel. I'm just going with the flow. I guess I could call it wuthering ... heights?

3. I'm feeling very content just allowing my emotions to happen, and paying attention to how they feel.

I guess he could have had a "touch" of autism. He certainly had trouble socially.

#1. I sense there would be a certain reluctance to baring your soul like that.

You're right. I don't keep a journal. The only autobiographical writing I've done was the (188 page) book I wrote for my ASD assessment.

1. I knew a guy at work who liked to make bird sounds in the street. He was an excellent typist, but kept primarily to himself. He was a unobstrusive sort of person.

2. I knew a writer sort of guy at work. He later moved to Austin, Texas with his wife, who also worked in our same place. They got divorced. In about 1986, I visited him in Austin.

3. I knew a guy at work in the 1980s. We used to hang out with another guy from work, and went to a diner in Brooklyn. We used to sort of ogle the waitresses in a subtle way, sometimes leading to tasteful flirtation. I still know the guy to this day.

Nope. #1 is the Lie. There is a guy who goes around making bird sounds; he's really quite good; he's been around the area where I work since I started there.

I can't believe #2 is 76 years old now! I haven't heard from him in a while. He was a tall, lanky sort of fellow. He liked going out with younger woman (college-aged).

#3 is the guy whose house I went to yesterday for the barbecue.

tweet tweet 8)

1. I always wear an apron when I cook. It's a pale, old fashioned print.

2. I usually cook two meals a day, but I often freeze one.

3. I usually eat takeaway food because I don't like cooking.

#3. You seem to be rather choosy as far as food is concerned. You probably like relatively "organic" sorts of ingredients.

You're right. I'm not particularly choosy but I do like to cook. Besides, I can't drive to get takeaway :)

1. Mony Mony by Billy Idol was HUGE during my Orienation Week at Uni. It had a sexual connotation. We changed the words and inserted inappropriate refrains.

2. I danced in a public fountain during O Week, and I'm pretty sure Duran Duran was playing. The fountain was near a waterway where a random man was walking around with a giant snake on his shoulders.

3. During my O Week I heard a lot of Squeeze (Pulling Mussels) and B52s (Love Shack, Rock Lobster) while drinking something called a Purple Jesus.
