People don't realize how much their beliefs shape their behaviors. It's one of the biggest traps of humanity, and most of the world has been in it for thousands of years.

Now that I think about it, whenever I get upset thinking how not many bother to do translations of programming or internet content which isn't based on the Latin alphabet, I can think about much math 'the universal language' of the post-'precalculus' related topics might use symbols like the one for integrals and letters from the Greek alphabet but for ones representing functions ( 'f(x)') the Latin alphabet is used as the Hindu–Arabic numeral system even in places where written language might be done in say Cyrillic or East Asian ideograms.
