If they do there's nothing saying it's sinful or illegal to ask for help from other people in the extended family. That's how some of my extended family get by. Also I think if any one of us is in dire straits to that degree that life isn't worth living WP members would help out as much as possible too.

Not everyone has friends and family

Some friends and family members are not willing or able to "help" you. Besides they will :jester: need help :skull: themselves.

Especially financial and emotional

^ i was just trying to soothe his anxiety.
I think you kinda undid that effort

And collective efforts like gofundme can compensate for an individual's inability to help alone.

I've seen ppl including friends and family in third world countries make things work as best they can by collective efforts... so I know it can be done. It's not hopeless entirely.

I wore a mask for the first time while grocery shopping today along with latex gloves. I decided not to take any chances, plus I have a cold sore on my upper lip that should not be touched. Wearing the mask was stressful. It blocked my vision, kept riding up over my eyes, made breathing difficult, and it made it even harder to concentrate on my shopping.
I was very edgy today, but managed to not have a meltdown while shopping.

But then, as my mother was driving me home, I peeled the nasty cloves off my sweaty hands, and decided to use my homemade hand sanitizer on them. Mistake number one was forgetting my mom has allergies and can't handle the fumes coming from the stuff. Mistake number two was putting on too much of it right after my hands have been encased in sweat-filled latex. It started burning and stinging and my skin was turning red before my eyes, and it was so bad I started kind of freaking out. Fortunately my mom had a Thermos of cold water in the car so she poured it into my hands so I could wash the sanitizer off.

I feel like I can't do anything right, and everyone keeps telling me how to do everything over and over like I'm some mentally defective golden retriever. 5001 NEW ways to wash your hands! Are you still using toilet paper, what an idiot you are! We actually care about you, even though we acted like you didn't exist before the pandemic began!

Still cannot sleep.

I feel unhappy to have spent all day online even when interacting with kids--- they had to keep trying to get my attention back to them.

Shameful.

But I guess it's better than feeling lonely.

I don't want to sleep. Then it's busy busy when I wake up, or soon after.

First thing to confront me is having to wake up alone with no adult to motivate you and talk to.

That is all there is to expect before the kids' arrival. I can't even pray the full prayer (with movements etc) --which I took up recently-- because it's nail polish days.

The store was way too busy. I just waited in the car while my mom went in to get her supplies.

Feeling extra tired and headaches today. May not be able to get my first iron infusion because my brother is sick and so far, at least, we can’t say for sure that it is or isn’t COVID-19 and I live in the same house as him. My iron level was eight point something at last check, down below where it was before I started taking iron supplements. At seven or below they give you a blood transfusion. I really don’t want my iron level to drop to that. I feel pretty crummy, but I don’t feel like someone who needs a blood transfusion, I expect I’d feel like I was taking the blood away from someone who needs it more than I do, plus I’m a little squicked out by the idea of having someone else’s blood in me.

Can you take more iron supplements to hold you over? I'm not sure how that works. I hope you feel a little better tomorrow.

I'm still taking the iron supplements, my body just seems to not be absorbing the iron properly. Before I started taking that, my iron was at 14. That's why my doctor wants me to get the iron infusions, then two weeks after those they'll check my iron level again and we'll go from there.

@dnd

I'm sorry you're in this situation and I hope your brother feels better soon. :(

Here's a few thoughts based on my experience with iron testing. If they determine that they won't do a transfusion and you have to treat this on your own, you might consider taking Vitamin C supplements but only with your doctor's approval. Please get approval before taking anything, though. Vitamin C will help your body to absorb more iron, if they're positive you aren't absorbing iron properly. This is likely why blooie felt better after having all those vegetable drinks and blends.

For some people with abnormal iron counts, it's actually harmful to take Vitamin C or to have foods which are high in Vitamin C. There's a condition where some people appear to have low serum iron, but with specialised testing the people are actually found to have too much iron -- it's built up in other parts of the body causing a low count to appear in their blood. It's quite rare so I don't want to give you another worry, but if you're going to try taking Vitamin C or even iron supplements make sure that you've already had a comprehensive "Iron Panel" test, which checks transferrin and TIBC levels. It's more detailed than a regular iron test, and it takes a week or more for results.

Sorry I get longwinded with medical words but I worry about you in this situation. I hope your brother can be tested and that you'll be on your way to recovery very soon. It must be awful to feel so weak. I hope your doctors can determine what's going on with your iron, and why.
