You assume correctly. Buddhist temple. :P

Two holidays are coming up, and I'm helping out for both of them. The Moon Festival and Vu Lan (I have no idea how to say that one in English ).

Interesting! :chin: I don't know much about Buddhism besides the Middle Way (I belived it's called that) its origin from India. Also Nirvana and reaching enlightenment. I don't know much about the holidays though... What are those two about?

The holidays are not exclusively Buddhist though (I think).

Vu Lan is like Parents Appreciation Day. You wear a red rose if both of them are alive, a pink one if only one of them is, and a white one if both are deceased. Apparently this holiday coincides with the Ghost Festival (Yu Lan in Chinese).

The Moon Festival/Mid-Autumn Festival is less influenced by Buddhism. It's a lunar harvest festival.
(Tết Trung Thu in Vietnamese, Zhongqiu Festival in Chinese, Tsukimi in Japanese, Chuseok in Korean.)

Uhm, well on this day, you eat mooncakes, light lanterns, watch lion dances, and... yeah... I don't know how to explain it.

And I see. Are you Chinese then, Guppy? :o

不是. I'm Swedish, although I prefer to think of myself as Norwegian, hah. I just took Mandarin as the class of my choice last year. Latin wasn't available, as it turned out.

Ah. I thought you might be because there's not many Mandarin classes in the schools around here. The people who have Chinese classes are usually Chinese and are taking it outside of school.

Sounds like you're having quite a productive day, Liam. :P
I'm assuming you're watching the Olympics?
