I enjoy seeing the good in people, and point those things out. Sometime, probably often, I have not evidence to back those things up, but I want to instill something positive in people.
I just spent three out of four weeks with someone that does this constantly, to the point where is it like decorative frosting on a cake. He does this for everyone one he meets, with a few exceptions. I understand stand why he does it, and it become more evident when he does not reflect that positivity towards people. They don't provide/give him what he wants. I don't think he realizes this.
Blah blah, what does this have to do with me, the truth about me? I think I do it for two reasons, sometime for one, sometimes for the other, and sometimes both.
Reason 1 - the self interest reason. I want people to like me, or to be more accurate, not be hostile towards me.
Reason 2 - I genuinely want people to feel better about themselves and to see and understand who and what they are.
Metaphor Time: we are darkness and we are light and they both coexist within us, maybe not if one has William's Syndrome, but the point is what???? I guess my question is can we be our darkest selves without doing harm to ourself and others and turn that into something positive with the understanding of both?
Maybe this is all fancy icing on a dark cake (still with the metaphors)? I don't know, but I believe with time (days and years of distant introspection and verification) one can find the truth. It's tricky business.
But I believe at his core, CockneyRebel is the sweet pea he imagines other people to be, or perhaps like me, he is putting his best German Cockney boot forward to be who he wants to be.
Perhaps it is all Masking, and the first step forward is to accept that and move on?
And the dark selfish reason I'm posting this? It probably helps me more than it helps you (not You specifically Cockney Rebel, you are a sweet pea).
The light non selfish (maybe a little selfish) reason? Does it make any sense to you?
You have just watched a peek inside my brain. Now, a word from our sponsor!
I try to my best to resemble something along the lines of entertainment, because in a past life, I may have been a sea sponge.
