Hey that sucks that it feels bruised/hurts. When that happens i found drinking warm water with honey mixed in helps.
(Water in kettle/heated then taken off before it gets too hot.. Then mix in dollop of honey)

This has happened to me many times and it might help to try

My mom telling me off for buying bread earlier today.

She tells me to never lose weight (because she sees men who want to lose weight as "vain" or "superficial"), but whenever she sees me taking a supplement that helps me control food cravings, she tells me off for doing it also.

I find firmly stating 'mind your own f*****g business thanks' tends to resolve that boundary issue, although the longer you wait before enforcing a boundary the firmer you will need to be in establishing it.

If you're worried it will just lead to backtalk, you address that as well.

Standing up for yourself is the only way to avoid being a floor mat.

Thank you, I will try this (assuming we have honey, it’s not something my family uses very often)

My cousin called n i realized her situation is worse than mine ever was or cd be not for lack of a good hubby (who she dated n loved beforehand unlike me)

but because of living in a poor country..in a tiny home.. No kitchen for her.. Mother in -law superstitious and controlling (MORE than mine was).. Etc

I had everything handed to me. They gave me my own kitchen n floor (they live in a mansion) and she gets so little bcuz they live in a small home..

I got way more of a life than her.. She didnt even fet a honeymoon.
She works as a doctor then comes home n has to do everything... n her mother in law is against everything rational..

No parks or way fr kids to get fresh air.. Uneducated unsafe area..
Electricity keeps going out .. Etc

Almost all her issues have to do with the realities of poverty in an already poor nation ...

and being around uneducated people with irrational minds (a very stuck in her ways mother in law who is uneducated past high school ..

mine was too... but mine was from a wealthy educated family n lived around the world and had a way better life than most people).

My cousin said exactly what I believe which is that jealous mothers can become their daughter in laws' ruination knowingly and wanting to ...
can know how to lie to and manipulate ppl esp sons.. so its not via them directly but an overall atmosphere and attitude

In her case her mother in law is uneducated and
entire set of inlaws and their extended family are uneducated..

Her husband is the only educated person in the whole family.. None of his relatives are educated past high school..or even not that.

and her mother in law sees her as a threat even though she is the nicest and most caring person..

I think her mother in law is very depressed of her surroundings (they cannot even go for a simple walk in the area..as i said)...

And jealous of my cousin actually and has an inferiority complex..my cousin is super intelligent and talented and works hard in every aspect of her life...and came from a beautiful city which is safer and can go on walks and fresh air.. Greenery.. Not a stifling ugly crowded city

If ppl knew the extent to which mother in laws are able to control the daughter in laws lives in S Asian culture they wd be shocked .. Its actually abuse. You are essentially a slave from the beginning with no voice no rights and just the equivalent of a dog and surrogate womb and that is exactly what my cousin has to deal with daily. Her mother in law actually takes a shower if she is sitting in same area as her to show that she considers her 'unclean .' something she says about her openly anyway
a minor example

:x If human rights were actually enforced instead of just stated most of South Asian women would be freed from a slavery they are born into.

The pattern carries on because the ones who suffered all their lives see the next generation as a threat bcuz they had no power or basic rights throughout their lives they have no life or safety net carved out for themselves and see they are dependent and afraid of not 'getting the upper hand' ..also lots of satisfaction in doing the same to the daughter in law or daughter that they were subjected to

appears . that civil rights for many ppl especially women can be a serious situation that should be addressed and i live in a Country that supposably supports them very strongly ..
Seen ongoing crimes against many ppl , women ,that would cause anyone to be upset ,, or worse.

How seemingly boy crazy I am lately. Last week a psychiatrist at my work was stunning, this week my dentist was mega cute. Not gonna lie, I've drooled over a couple other psychiatrists at my work before they got moved to a different location we opened. :skull:

Realizing that i have pretty much nothing in common with my few friends. They're very sweet people but i feel like we can't connect on an emotional level.
