I’ve never had nitrous oxide. The best I’ve gotten is Novocain.

local dentist charges me $60 for the mask and the gas, it is worth every penny. KK, if i were you, i'd insist on the gas, can't really go wrong with it, take a trip and never leave the chair. Blazingstar, one time when i was a teen, the dentist left to go see another patient, and i reached around and turned up the gas, and i had an out of body experience.

There is no extra charge for the nitrous at my dentist.

Once the nitrous is on, a staff person has to be with you at all times. At least at my office.

Kortie, you still get the novocaine injection for the pain. The nitrous is to get you to relax.

Ask for the novocaine without epinephrine. It is the epi that keeps the novocaine from wearing off. After novocaine only, you can feel the numbness bleed out of your face. Another fascinating sensation.

Yes, AB, I have a great dentist. I drive 1-1/2 hours to get to his office. He does a lot of dentistry for people with disabilities and is so calm and confident. He has a son with CP and ID.

i try not to eat for a long time after my teeth are worked on. sensitive. and Blazingstar, your dentist must be top notch if you are willing to drive 90 minutes to get to his office. driving that far twice in one day would wear me out.

I'm already making progress in desensitizing our dog to ear infection treatments (he becomes fearful and lashes out when we put a dropper bottle anywhere near his ears). I started positive reinforcement yesterday with cotton balls (anyone who is on the phobias post knows I'm a sidonglobophobe/bambakophobe, so this is really difficult for me) near his ears and on his face, and I'm hoping to move on to eventually using treated cotton balls above his ear canal. Baby steps (for both of us). I can get grossed out/overwhelmed for my puppy's health!

A temp agency offered me a job as package handler. The job bus doesn't run late enough to take the bus after work. Could drive, but one car crash is worth a lot of hours working and it is not worth the energy it takes to go there. (Just like most precious lil "people")
