Steve McQueen was the first choice for the role of Roy Neary in Close Encounters of the Third Kind but declined Spielberg's offer after telling him he couldn't cry on demand.

The Cockney accent and the Australian accent sound totally different!
Maybe it's easier for me coming from London. But I reckon almost any Brit would be able to tell the difference.

Or did you mean "There are slight differences between Cockney and Australian Accents that only a person with a trained Ear can pick up ... as opposed to the many big differences between the two that are bleedin' obvious"?

Now, comparing Aussie and Kiwi accents is another matter ...

Let me re-word that.

There are differences between Cockney and Australian Accents that aren't easily picked up by the Untrained North American Ear.

I'm the most unpatriotic person in Canada. I feel like a Londoner in a strange land.

I did cry over London's Bus at one point over the Christmas Holidays. I told my Mom that I was crying over a passing of a Neigbour that happened over the Holidays, a few years earlier instead of telling her the truth.

I have a Cockney Accent, and I tend to brag about it, as though it's the only thing I've got. Maybe a Hobby might help me to build my Self Esteem. Two for the price of one.

12 inches = 1 foot

3 feet = 1 yard

5 1/2 yards = 1 rod

40 rods = 1 furlong

8 furlongs = 1 statute mile

3 miles = 1 league

The last time I posted in this thread was three days ago.

(And I'm only posting this to deny kevv729 the satisfaction of killing this thread off.)

Cioppino is often thought to be an Italian dish, but it is not a traditional Italian dish. It most likely was invented in San Fransisco.

Did you ever wonder what the WD in WD-40 stands for? The name was lifted right out chemist Norm Larsen's laboratory notebook. Way back in 1953, he was trying to concoct an anti-corrosion formula, which worked on the basic principle of displacing water. On his 40th try, Larsen finally got it right. Hence the name WD-40. It literally means Water Displacer, 40th try.

In addition to sailing, the equestrian events are the only other Olympic sport in which men and women compete together. It is the only the only Olympic sport where human and animals are teammates.

Unlike some other modern Olympic sports, the equestrian sports have an ancient counterpart in the original Olympics: chariot racing.

The three Olympic equestrian events are jumping, dressage and three-day eventing, which evolves jumping, dressage and cross-country.

Dressage is a highly discipline event that tests the horse's agility, training and obedience to the rider's commands. During the event, the rider gives the horse a series of subtle commands, many of which are unrecogizable to the untrained eye. The goal is for the horse to respond without hesistation and with confidence, grace, and sure-footedness. Ultimately dressage is the most highly refined test of the horse-and-rider team's ability to work in harmony and agreement. Traditionally dressage has been judged solely of competancy, ability and technique, but in recent years the Olympics have included a "freestyle" round where horse and rider perform a dressage routine to music, and are judged for both technique and artistry.

On a standard keyboard, the letter "s" is just left of the letter "d".
