Seems like we can't get a decent snowstorm here in Pennsylvania if our lives depended on it! Yes I'm a snow lover. Not obsessed, but I could watch it fall gently all day. I know it can cause havoc with transportation etc. And I'm not fond of bitter cold (temperatures have been rather nippy for sure ). But all these snowy weather systems the past several weeks have either gone north, south, every direction but over us. Including the current one which is going to hit North Carolina and Virginia. And last month folks in New Orleans, Houston, and Pensacola Florida we shoveling (if they have them) instead of sunbathing. Unreal. We are way overdue for a decent nor'easter type storm. Now as the weather patterns calm down, looks like the windows of opportunity are closing

Similar here on Long Island. We usually average around 30 inches per winter. So far this season around 14 inches. Better than last winter’s 11 inches and the previous winter’s 4 inches. Because it has been so cold the snow that does fall stays around.

One thing that I like to do when the windows are frosted over is to dip my hands in cold water and then fling water droplets onto the glass.

It's time for the heating to get cranked up I think

I'm wearing a long sleeved thermal vest, a t-shirt, a hoodie and a really thick cardigan and the cold is still penetrating through to my bones

Oh and a hat

Lots of bunny tracks on our lawn. They must like hopping on the snow.

It was another cold night. The temperatures fell down to 12.7 degrees F ( -10.7 degrees C). We also had some more snow. So I spent the morning cleaning off the snow from our driveway.

Yesterday, we went to town and I bought some more bird seed. Good thing I did because the blast of snow meant they lost their ability to find food. So after clearing off our driveway, I fed the birds. There are around a hundred birds taking advantage.

I hear we have a few more days of cold and snow this week.

Another cold night. This morning it was 0.5 degrees F ( -17.5 degrees C). We had a little snow last night. So first thing in the morning we cleaned off our long driveway. It took us about 2 hours. Then I fed the birds. I bought my fourth bag of bird seed and it is almost used up. That is 160 pounds of the Supreme Blend. My birds are surviving this winter. One of these birds, the woodpecker is a natural defender against H5N1 otherwise known as deadly bird flu.

It is good to have friends.

It was another cold night. The temperatures dropped down to -1.1 degrees F ( -18.4 degrees C) last night. At least we did not have any more snow. I fed the birds.

Spring is in the air. The temperatures fell down to 7.5 degrees F. this morning but began to rise before the crack of dawn. Maybe winter is finally coming to an end.

It fell down to 14.9 degrees F ( -9.5 degrees C) this morning. But winter is slowly fading away.

I had a theory about winter. There are three different regions of the world in the northern hemisphere. These are the U.S., Western Europe, and Russia. Each year one region experiences an extremely cold winter and the other regions not so bad. Each winter these regions move to the next one.

That means that the U.S. and Canada are experiencing a very cold winter. But next year it is someone else's turn for extreme cold.
