Arsenic was used as an ingredient in embalming fluid from the Civil War era until the 1930s. Being a metalloid it can prevent x-rays from being taken of bodies prepared in such a manner during autopsies.

Today my son told me about Mary Queen of Scot's little dog. The dog ran after her to the execution, and was found hiding and whimpering in her skirts after the execution.

That God is everywhere. Not just inside the church.

That I've got to stop holding grudges against the people who did me wrong, here and in real life. There was one member who did me wrong. I was doing so well.

I've learned my problems in my life are nothing compared to what others face in their own lives...

I learned today that it really seems to bother people when you tell them you are more than capable of walking to your appointment despite the snow that has fallen in my state for as long as we all have lived here. I do not know why it bothers them... people got around without cars for longer than they have gotten around with them. I do not understand what the big deal is, but it apparently confuses people when you say you will just walk and do not need a ride. In that, I guess I also learned that people are very car dependent. Weird...

I prefer the taste of water to the taste of fruit juices.

Saints fever has taken over all of new orleans. it's insane! i've bought a fleur-de-lis necklace, rainboots, and bracelet. my mum threw a saints tshirt at me when i walked in the door yesterday and she's bought a fleur-de-lis necklace, earrings, scarf and saints banners. she even revived the singing, dancing saints doll that's been dead for like two years. i'm dizzy with who dats and it's a party in the mia. it's gloriously mad and fantastic! if we lose tomorrow then new orleans will probably still party. i love this city!! !

i can't stop reading this article! i'm shaking with excitement. i think king cake will calm me down.

I learned that in January of 2005, of the approximately 745,000 (on one given night) homeless people in the states, 40-50% of them suffered from Axis 1 disorders. I also learned that in 1976, the HUD budget had over 86 billion dollars in it and in the three decades that followed, the budget dropped to 34 billion. I learned about the term 'chronically homeless' and that 80% of the chronically homeless are single adults who only go to shelters once or twice a year and stay for less than a month and vanish...
