that would make it rather complicated for me to do... im not good at that kind of thing... the powerchair REPAINT (green powerchair) was done by someone else. i just put in the gatling gun..

if you wish to do background only i will do it... otherwise it will have to stay in the queue for a better photoshopper to pick up.

You don't need Photoshop or the GIMP to make good avatars. All you need is MSPaint and a good eye for detail. I should know, because I can make good avatars in MSPaint.

EDIT: 3500 posts. I'm catching upto my old self.

I'm quite good with GIMP, Paint.net, and Inkscape. I might be able to help with some things. But not tonight, tonight I'm busy.

Here's the easiest way to take the background out of an image like this (high contrast of a white object on a black/red/blue background):

Open the image in Photoshop, select the Magic Wand tool, set the Tolerance to '75' click on the background. It should hilight most of the background. While the background is still selected, click on the Eraser tool and then go down to the two color blocks on the bottom of the toolbar and click on the square that determines the background color. Image must be flattened first to remove any transparent backgrounds or else it won't work. In this case, I made the eraser color blue. Then, while the background is still selected, hit 'delete' key and most of the background should be removed and replaced with the blue color (or whatever color you choose). Then you just click the magic wand tool on the remaining pieces that were left behind when you erased most of the background and 'delete' them until they're all gone.

Then, click on the 'new' background you've just made an turn it whatever color you want. (While the background is selected you can also copy & paste a photo into the 'selected' area, as well. Here's two examples, using Eddiedog's artwork: {Note - I did these in 5 minutes, so they're a little rough on the edges. If I spent more time on it, I'd zoom in and smooth the pixels around it to blend it in better.}

and with a background I pasted in behind it:

If you have any questions about Photoshop, I can usually answer them,as I use the program every day at work.

Once you've selected the entire background, go back to select 'Inverse' and copy the image, then paste it elsewhere. You can do all kinds of funny stuff without having to spend too much time on detail. Here, Grandma is enjoying Eddiedog's space-thingy:
(Took me less than a minute to make this}

I photoshop A LOT! I love the program. I do most of my drawings on flash and then import them to photoshop (Thats how I do my web comics) I sometimes scan my drawings and then do stuff to them, but not often.

My favorite programs to draw in is either Adobe Illustrator CS or Freehand MX. Freehand MX is outmoded now (replaced by the Adobe CS suite) but it's a wonderful program that you can do almost anything you want in, and if you save several frames of an art project, you can simply export as a Flash document. It's easier than Flash to use, and IMO, more tools & effects to work with. Too bad it was eliminated by Adobe.

Indeed, Adobe should have continued to support Freehand MX.. i used to use it for a while.... but now i use Photoshop CS3 which i got for free..

DONT ASK HOW I GOT IT
