We had a lovely Christmas Day yesterday. Just me, my husband and daughter. No crazy mother throwing tantrums because we didn't have the dinner ready the minute she walked through the door, or because we had cooked the chicken the day before and ate it cold, or because we had chicken instead of turkey.

Just a relaxed, fun day playing silly games and watching TV and eating. Phew.

did pretty daggone well at last night's yankee white elephant gift exchange [in-laws' xmas party ritual], got a yard-long tube of various flavors of popcorn kernels, which i force-exchanged for a 35 piece toolbox [really needed that, as i have no real tools in the house] and an accompanying music CD, "a toolbox christmas" where the guy made his power tools into musical instruments of a sort, i already have a companion disc with a different flavor of tool music on it, now it has a "buddy" of sorts.
