I'm between a rock and a hard place. This is me doing a 'between a rock and a hard place' impression:

Except I won't be smiling.

IMHO you should consider commercial modeling. just a thought. but it would help pay the bills at least.

I think the world's seen enough tall, flat-chested stick insects, but thanks for the suggestion.

most of my string of nightmares evaporated upon waking up, but what remained was the horror of huge grotesque gray hairless spiders crawling all around me, and of being stuck in a house full of buzzing threatening bees. 8O I don't know why I keep having those dreams?

That would be because you keep sleeping. It's a habit that's hard to break.
Sounds like you're having the same 'trapped' dreams I'm having. Spiders crawling all around; spiders make webs = entrapment; stuck in a house with angry bees. Are you feeling trapped in any way?

That's the worst kind of trapped. You can't really get away from your own body. The only solution is to lose your mind. I'm halfway there already.

it seems my brain's outlived my body. I suppose it could be worse, though.

I dreamed that I had found the lost East Fork Earthworks in southwestern Ohio. These ancient Hopewell earthworks have long since been plowed over by agriculture, but in early 19th Century, they mystified those who studied them. They were shaped like a Jewish oil lamp that surrounded a feature that closely resembled a menorah. This atypical Hopewell earthwork led some to believe that it had been constructed by the lost tribes of Israel. In my dream, I was walking amongst the 2000 year old site and discovered it had a large brick Federal styled mansion in the center of it.

I dreamt I was in a crampted single occupancy loo, and I was regarding myself in the mirror, I was dressed in drag resembling a prettier version of mrs. doubtfire, but with a week's worth of coarse black beard. I remember my hair being in a very appealing quasi-Sassoon cut but with my hair standing up and curved at the tips.

I dreamt I was in some room with the usual salmon colored treatment [all my dreams are in that color for some reason] in front of a large table with a bathtub atop it, and in the bathtub were 5 various shapes and sizes of plastic bucket, and in the buckets were Japanese noodles, and into the buckets I was pouring from a large ziplock bag, a mixture of soy sauce and fish broth, and while I was doing this two women were discussing Hollywood movie shooting scripts, and which ones had been green-lighted and which ones were turned down, and the one that I remember vividly was John Wayne's last movie script, somebody was trying to make it into a new movie [wayne died during preproduction in 1979] and how it had been turned down for reproduction because "nobody can play in a wayne movie other than wayne." then I awoke.

Another one of your "bicultural" dreams: Japanese cuisine in the same dream as the all American icon John Wayne being discussed. You must be struggling with some issue related to your combined Japanese- American heritage.

I had an elaborate dream, most of which I forgot quickly. At some point, I could see a street flooded with water raging lengthwise among general havoc. It crossed some narrower streets, at least part of which didn?t seem to be flooded (one of these geometric puzzles so common in dreams, as only one side sloped down towards the main street; of course, I didn?t realize this while dreaming). Then I saw a car coming fast from one of them. For a moment, I expected the driver to be sensible and brake before plunging into the current to certain death. I was wrong: the intrepid driver kept going and was carried away by the water. Obviously, the car wouldn?t stay afloat for long anyway, but, in case things weren?t challenging enough, its windows were wide open, the surface of the rushing water no more than a handspan below them and threatening to pour inside at any moment, sinking the car once and for all. Nonetheless, the driver knew what they were doing, for the car made a nearly perfect half revolution downstream, hit exactly the intersection with another street, climbed out of the water and sped off beyond my sight.
