New Optometrist: (Other one retired)
- Didn't introduce himself.
I didn't even notice until MR pointed it out.
- Told me I likely need eye surgery from a paediatric Ophthalmologist.
Why paediatric? The condition affects kids.
Then didn't give me a referral because I'm not a kid.
- I asked what to do about Visual Snow.
"Nothing".
- I asked about Irlen.
"That's not real".
- I kept saying the clearer test letters hurt my eyes.
"Yes, they're clearer but it hurts".
He didn't know what I meant.
I said it would be like me asking him to carry 50 lbs for me.
He could do it, but it would hurt.
He still didn't get it.
- I asked for better eye drops.
He said to use "whatever" brand for dry eyes.
- He said I needed a stronger prescription for distance.
Then he decided to keep it the the same, and changed all my numbers.
I have no idea why.
- I asked for a Field of Vision test because peripheral light makes me sick.
He said no.
I'm so not impressed.
I have had similar experiences with clueless 'eye specialists' when visiting the opticians, Issy.
