What's the last weirdest dream you had?
Yesterday, in one of my classes, we were discussing awful things that have happened to families. One girl mentioned something that happened in her sister's boyfriend's family. The story ended with that guy's father's mistress giving up a child, which she'd had with the married man, to his family. It seems like the mistress was very interested in the money that family has and really didn't want a kid. I won't say everything that happened in that story because the ending is pretty sad, so I feel guilty for being as confused as I am by people's actions throughout it.
Even though it seems like we're very different, I spent the whole night dreaming that I was the mistress from that story. I dreamt about what I think she would be thinking and feeling to make the choices she made. I dreamt about what it seems like she'd be thinking and feeling while those things happened, and what I imagine she'd feel like after all of those things happened. I don't know what that woman looks like, but she looked just like me in my dream.
When I woke up, I just felt sorry for her and everyone involved in that mess.

I was always given to understand that if you meet a future or past version of yourself it can be catastrophic. Well, Dr Emmett Brown said something like that. There didn't happen to be a smoking DeLorean nearby?
no smoking delorean, just a sound transit bus. somebody needs to make a time travelling bus, at least in fiction. like a cross between ken kesey's magic bus and h.g. wells.
Ask not what such and such in a dream "represents". Ask: what does it represent ...to you?
What does Jay Leno represent to you?
Jay Leno is a boomer contemporary of you. And the 2014 Jay Leno is a retired gray haired guy. He was chatting with both you, and his younger brown haired self.
Just a guess:maybe it shows that you're worried about retirement.

jay has about 8 years on me. my older brother's age. almost a different generation as he is a bona fide boomer while I am "generation jones." am presently living in a state some would call retirement but it is insecure [always seem to be short of cash]. am basically just chronically unemployed with no skills that anybody wants to pay me for. I worry about homelessness more than anything. and/or bankruptcy due to medical issues. I try not to think about such.

I hear ya. You dont have anything to 'retire' from.
Kinda in that situation too. And Im startng to hear the older of my friends talk about retirement. Its depressing. Maybe Im just projecting my shxxt on your dream.
But I remember Leno taking over from Johnny Carson (who my parents watched). And I believe that was around 1990. And he just recently passed the torch to the new guy ( and idol of millenials- the gen after boomers). So I can see how that conversation between the two Lenos and yourself could be symbolic of generations, or something like that.

am an in-betweener, have been all my life.
The Baby Boom is considered to have spanned a big expanse of time:from 1946 to 1964. Some Baby Boomers even have children who are ALSO Babyboomers.
If you're eight years younger than Jay Leno that means that you were born in 1958 which puts you well into the "Baby Boom" generation. Nothing "in between" about you.
Though it HAS always seemed to me that the baby boomers break up into two age groups. The older group started the counter culture, and were old enough to be in danger of getting drafted into the Vietnam war if they were male. By the time I was 18 Woodstock and Haight Ashbbury were history, and the war was officially over (the US had pulled out but Saigon hadnt fallen yet).So I didn't have to worry about gettng drafted (unlike my cousins). My cousins (and Jay Leno) were the hard core old (pre 1952 maybe?) BB group. You,I, and my sister, were all in the younger half. So it does feel like we were a seperate generation from the Babyboomers. But, believe it or not, we are all considered "Boomers".
I dreamt I was very upset because someone had painted a large picture of Hitler on the side roller door of our shed. It looked like they'd used a stencil and white spray paint. I hadn't been outside to look, I'd only seen the image in the reflection of my neighbours windows. I told my family but they didn't believe me. We started arguing about whether the image was there or not. Finally, I gathered them all together and took them outside to look.....and there was no white Hitler to be seen.
Next, I dreamed some kind of cataclysmic event was affecting the earth. I saw a series of scenes where people were going about their everyday business when they heard a sound like a thousand thundering race cars, then the thing would pass and the people would be absolutely battered to bits by the winds it generated and the flying debris. The last scene was me lying in bed when the thing went by and the roof opened and the noise and wind pressure was unbearable and I ended up being buried beneath a mountain of detached vegetation.

I was told [b. 1960] that I was a "boomlet."

the symbolic logic of the first dream was fairly prominent- you feel your neighbors don't really care for you, and in fact loathe you. but your family doesn't get it and maybe believes you are exaggerating things. alternately there is some negative home situation that everybody other than your family can see.
Reflection
To see your reflection in your dream represents your true self; it is time to look within. The reflection may highlight both your flaws and positive attributes. Learn from your flaws and how to improve them. At the same time, appreciate your good qualities. Alternatively, your reflection indicates how you want others to perceive you. If you see a strange figure or something other than your own reflection, then it suggests that you are undergoing some identity crisis. You are not sure about who you are anymore.
Mirror or Window Reflection
To dream of your garage door reflection in the mirror suggests that you are pondering thoughts about your inner self. The reflection in the mirror is how you perceive yourself or how you want others to see you. You may be contemplating on strengthening and changing aspects of your character.
Adolf Hitler
To see a reflection of Hitler in your dream symbolizes oppression, fear, manipulation of power, and absolute control. The dream could be brought about by a situation where you are feeling helpless or by someone who is overly controlling or is making you feel less than human.
Storm
To see a storm in your dream signifies some overwhelming struggle, shock, loss or catastrophe in your waking life. The storm also represents unexpressed fears or emotions, such as anger, rage, turmoil, etc. On a more positive note, the storm symbolizes your rising spirituality. It may signal rapid changes ahead for you.
Tempest
To dream that you are caught in a tempest indicates a violent emotional outbreak. You are experiencing a lot of anger, rage and turmoil.
Burial
To dream that you are being buried alive suggests that you are being undermined or stifled in some way. You are feeling trapped or helpless.
I dreamt about the Salesman. The Salesman wears black robes and sells withered hands. These hands hang from his stick, which he carries over his shoulder. He also carries a bell, because he only travels at night a potential customers are normally asleep.
According to the old woman down the road, the presence of the Salesman is a sign that the neighbourhood is going downhill, but at least it keeps the teenagers indoors.
I'm working on a drawing of the Salesman now.
My neighbours are lovely! However there is a person who lives nearby who was always nasty when she was alone with me but nice to my family. When I told my family some of the things she said they didn't believe me. It was like she was playing mind games, trying to make me look crazy. I don't know why. Maybe she's just a b***h. Recently I found out she's done the same thing with two other women I know.
If you see a strange figure or something other than your own reflection, then it suggests that you are undergoing some identity crisis. You are not sure about who you are anymore.
I've had an identity crisis my whole life. I haven't found who I am yet or if I even exist. I feel I'm just parts of everyone else.
I don't believe I quite think of myself as Hitler! The strengthening and changing part, yes. I need some armour.

....and maybe because we've been studying WWII in history.

Yes, not so much anger, but turmoil certainly. The trapped feeling seems to be a recurring theme in my dreams.

People buy withered hands?
I would like to see your drawing.

Sounds like a tough sell. Not much market for that!

ah, so she's a congenital gas lighter. folks like that play a game for which the only winning move is not to play [with them].
was not suggesting that you were that person, but that somebody in your life is oppressing you.
yeah, sorta reminds me of that freud thing about "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."
most of us at various times in our lives are trapped in one thing or another. some traps are as honey, the others are vinegar.
Ok, I had to Google what a gas lighter was. Apparently it's used for lighting bbq's or a type of bong??
I had more success with googling 'gaslighter'. Yes, that's exactly what she is. I ceased playing that game with her long ago in the interest of my own sanity (what is left of it).
Gaslighter is an American term according to Google which is why I'd never heard of it. Two-faced b***h is the Aussie translation.
