hopefully tonight you will catch up on sleep, that usually happens to me if I slept poorly one night my body overdoes it to compensate the next time. anyways in my dream the lady who told me that was smiling and pleasant. I don't know what that means other than the fact that "being civil" papers over a lot of ill feelings. also I get the deer in the headlights thing, when I see danger I go into autopilot mode and just flee, without the presence of mind to warn others.

I may have an opportunity to sleep in class today :D
The 'pleasant' lady is quite nasty. It reminds me of things my mother would say to me growing up. She's the wolf in sheep's clothing.
I do the deer in the headlights - but I forget to run. I think your way is much better.

:) thank you :star: the most I am able to do when I see danger is say something monosyllabic, for example when my sister and I were examining a patch of grown I had cleaned up, I noticed straightaway some sentry hornets were agitated and zipping back and forth over what appeared to be a ground nest, and I immediately jumped up and said "BEES!" and fled a safe distance away, but my sister was just sitting there fascinated by the hornets until they jumped up and started stinging the beejeez out of her.

Finally, the drawing of the Salesman:

Image

I forgot to mention another thing that the old lady down the road said: "I think it's terrible that faceless people are allowed out in public."

Wow! That drawing is amazing! I could see that on the cover of a metal album. You are very talented.

This reminds me of how disabled people were viewed not too long ago.
To see a faceless person means you are unable to comprehend the motives of others. They are an enigma. On the other hand it could mean you haven't found yourself. You have no identity in your own eyes.
The withered hands and bell remind me of a leper. The bell signalled to others to stay away. In this dream the bell calls people to share in the affliction i.e the withered hands. Maybe you are lonely and crave the company of others, but you are somewhat of an outsider?
Of course, that is only my interpretation. A dream can be viewed in many ways. What does it mean to you?

It looks much like I imagined it from your description. A version of the Grim Reaper motif.

Thus a symbol of death. Or thats what leaps out as an obvious meaning.

Your description of the salesman "coming around" also reminds one of the "Ice Man" in the title of the Eugen O'Neil play "The Ice Man Cometh" ( the ice man is both a reference to a certain naughty joke, and a symbol of death in the play).

By why would Death announce himself to customers like the Good Humor Man- with a bell? And why would there would be customer demand for "withered hands"?

The only meaning I can conjure up is that "the whithered hands" represent old ways of doing things. and that its some kind of commentary on society (or your parents perhaps) "buying" old ways from the dead past.

I think it was more being unable to comprehend the motives of others, because I wasn't sure if he was threatening or just really weird.

The withered hands are an in joke, but I've been thinking about Halloween, which would explain the black robes and general creepiness.
The bell was like the one the teacher used to ring to signal the end of break when I was at primary school, so I interpreted it as something to do with my anxiety about going back to school next week.

I had a dream where I was walking down the street when suddenly and inexplicably I found I was holding a lit bong in my hand. It was a homemade bong made out of an Orchy orange juice bottle and a short length of hose. My amazement soon turned to fear of exposure because it was broad daylight, there were people around and possession of any amount of cannabis is highly illegal where I live.
I'm trying to think how I can get rid of this thing. There's nowhere to dispose of it and I don't want to just leave it where it could cause a bushfire or a child could pick it up. I end up sticking it in my bag where it continues to send out little smoke signals as I walk.
I go to the hairdresser's (as you do when you have a concealed smoking bong). I'm sitting in front of the mirror but all I can see is the little smoke wisps coming out of my bag. The hairdresser asks me, "What do you want me to do with these?" I look and there's all these wires coming out of my head behind my ear. I pull on one and it comes out with a little diode attached to the end. Thankfully, I wake up at this point. Weird much?? 8O

There's a very hot debate in Australia atm about legalising cannabis for medicinal use. If it becomes legal I'll be first in line, homemade Orchy bong in hand.

There is a place in Australia called Nimbin where smoking pot is not exactly legal but it's so widespread the authorities tend to look the other way because they'd basically be arresting every citizen in the town.

I had not quite a nightmare, more like a night filly, about being back in the army only in my present state [30+ years older, hair down the middle of my back, as unmilitary as a cat], standing in front of an open barracks wall locker that might be mine or somebody else's, with a sergeant on either side of me playing "good cop/bad cop", the one on my left whispering in my ear that it was time for me to get a military haircut once and for all, the other one glaring at me. then I segued from that dream to one where I was having to do pushups repeatedly until I was so tired I could hardly move.
