Some dreams I remember, some I don't. A few I have remembered for decades after the dream.

i know i definitely dream but i can't remember all of them. my dreams are either vague and abstract or freaky. i have no between.

I remember dreams that I've had, years ago.

I remember my dreams and have a very vivid dream life with dream people and real life people and places I visit in different dreams. And sometimes I fall asleep in a dream and then dream inside of that dream - then the wake up sequence is two levels to come back out of it. Pretty trippy. And if I go through a phase where I can't remember my dreams, which is very unusual, I start to feel lonely. Dreaming is a big part of my life.

Like happymusic, I have quite an active dreamlife. I often remember my dreams, and often remember several dreams a night (although I believe they are all one piece, but I tend to narrativise them and break them up so they seem to be several short stories rather than one big stream of crazy).

I credit my dreams with healing a lot of psychic wounds. I often dream of encounters with beautiful, warm, caring people. It's nice, because I don't get a lot of that in reality. In fact I also credit my dreams with keeping me alive through some particularly (mentally) tough times.

Maybe due to that, I've had a really keen interest in all things dream and sleep related. I've been vaguely trying to induce lucid dreaming, it sounds fascinating. No success so far. Any tips appreciated!

That dreaming inside a dream thing is fascinating, happymusic. I guess that it might be possible to get into several layers of depth of dreams... dreaming inside a dream inside a dream inside a... well you get the idea.

I had a friend who told me that he once dreamed he'd woken up, gone through his entire morning ritual of getting dressed, shower, shave, breakfast etc. leaving the house, only to wake up, and realise it was a dream, and have to do it all over again!

I have heard theories (can't remember where) but that all your dreams happen at once, like in the same few moments during the night, but I have vivid dreams and some that build on each other at different times of the night. And I know they're at different times because I often get up and think about them, then go back to bed and dream more. Who knows.

Tibetan Buddhists do some techniques with sleep you might find interesting. Meeting up with others might be something you'd like to try, too (if you haven't already!). My niece and I meet up and then tell my sister the same dream. My sister then freaks out. Once my sister tried it but she was overthinking it and confused herself. Children just go because no one's told them it's impossible.

I certainly experience dreams sequentially in time. Sounds an interesting and plausible theory. Some might make an argument that we actually live our lives in something like the same instant, and that time may not unfold, for want of a better word, as we experience it at all. But that's getting way off topic!

Yeah, those Tibetans are interesting guys. I recently bought a copy of the Tibetan Book of the Dead, which is difficult to read but fascinating. One thing I heard those guys are into is dream yoga, which if I understand correctly, is basically meditating in ones sleep. I'd find that useful, as I often don't seem to find enough time in the day.

That's really cool about meeting your niece in dreams! I also have a niece who I am very close to that I must try that with. It seems children are more open to what I like to call 'woo woo' stuff. I'm wondering whether Autistic folks are similar. I know that I'm into some well weird stuff that NTs certainly do shun.

Ah, well I still can't post links yet, but just google Electra complex, and you'll have a wealth of information. It's basically sexual attachment of a female to her father. Although I've since discovered that auntblobby is actually male through reading other parts of this forum, so I'm rather confused, and worried that I might cause offence if I persist with this line of thought.

Your interpretation of my dream being about becoming an adult is a very good one. I think it was symbolic of becoming more 'powerful', more able to take responsibility, and effect positive change for myself and in the world. Or really, having the power, but not being able to wield it fully effectively yet, hence the 'impotence'. I saw it in terms of magical ability at the time, with the penis representing a wizard staff. I've never really felt like an adult, or a child for that matter, and I still don't. But something changed during that period.

I had a memorable dream last summer. 'Tis not for open fora, as the dream didn't concern only me.

I remember dreams sporadically, but most are forgotten after a few hours.

Secretly I am, but I can't tell you that, or it'll spoil it.
