Wasn't that already done IRL?

Yeah, and that's why it'd be perfect to make fun of (the mother or father that is). It's happened numerous times to autistic and other disabled children/adults, and you always hear of the same excuse and reasoning to try and justify the fact that they're just simple murderers.

'His suffering made me suffer!'

""The doctors are constantly telling us that it's not anyone's fault, but if you'd ever met Sharon's brothers, you'd know that something's not quite right on that side of the family," Mark said. "We probably shouldn't yell in front of him as much as we do, but he doesn't really pay much attention and it honestly doesn't seem to bother him.""

Hilarious.

See, the way the story is written, you can tell that the parents are self-centered, critical people who suffer from their own flaws.

Seriously, this is a great satire of the kind of people who blame their kids for their problems.

There exists a trope, less common these days but frequently seen in older "trashy" literature, that when a couple is having marital problems, they should have a child. Somehow, the child will magically heal the wounds in their relationship, drawing them close together effortlessly and miraculously erasing the memories of all those nights they spent calling each other filthy names while throwing crockery.

In real life, some people have become convinced of this, and had children to "save their marriage". It doesn't work, of course - if you don't love each other, loving a third party isn't going to help, and there are fair odds that you won't love the third party anyway - but that doesn't stop some people (read "overly-emotional idiots") from trying. That's the thought process the Onion article pokes fun at - that, and the idea that somehow an "imperfect" child will "wreck" a marriage. (If your relationship is strong, it's not a real issue; if your relationship is weak, using your child as an excuse, while common, is reprehensible.)

No, The Onion is satire. This is making fun of Autism Speaks' ad style.

Trollign incorporates sardonic and satire in its' style. See some of EncyclopediaDramatica's articles. Well some of the articles not advocating cyberterrorism.

The point of trolling isn't social commentary, though. Trolling is just provoking a reaction for the lulz.

When I was 22 my dad pretty much blamed me for the breakup of my parents' marriage. That was the last time I have spoke with him (145 years ago). He is a jerk though, and it is likely he was still bitter that I let the cops in to arrest him when I was 4. They would have gotten him anyway- what was he going to do- run out the back door?

EDIT: oops I meant 15 years
