I used to be that way. I would stress over the tiniest things. Life's to short to spend the whole time stressing about the stupidest things.

I can lie. Of course it is something I have considerable moral scruples about and try to avoid like the plague. That being said, if my life or the life of someone dear to me hangs on a lie, necessity trumps idealistic morality. Unfortunately I can't take the same approach when it comes to telling a white lie to get a job.

I don't know how to lie but I'm told I make outlandish statements that are perceived to be false. I do exaggerate though. Does that make me a liar? Exaggeration? I emphasize everything and it's not even intentional.

What I meant in my post was when you lie, you are making something up, when you write fiction you are making something up. So if you can write fiction, you are capable of lying because they are both made up.

But with fiction, we all know it's made up so we don't see it as a lie though some people do. But if the author said it was a memoir and it actually happened, then it's a lie.

AAAAAAACCCCKKKKK!! !! !! !

What a nightmarish reminder of a hot conversation I had with my mother decades ago! I was INSISTENT that ALL fictional works are lies!

I'm a lousy liar and I can't remember enough details to keep a lie going, so I try to avoid it. The sort that I might do is like when someone asks me an awkward question, like "Do I look fat?" Though I might be tempted to say yes, I might avoid answering altogether or just say "No."

I have mild symptoms of AS, and I can keep a straight face for a while and my high marks in all subjects earn me a few brownie points with teachers :D

People think I am an honest person, because they know how thoughtful and nice person I am. But I'm not an honest person - I lie a lot, but I get believed because I'm a good-natured person.

When I was with another Aspie once, we went into a DVD shop. I brought a DVD with certificate 18 on it, but I was only 16 and my Aspie friend (sort of friend) was 18. At the till the cashier asked if I had ID on me and I said no. Then I added, ''but I'm just paying for this for my friend - he has an ID.'' So I called him over and asked him to show the cashier his ID, and he is so honest that he said, ''I don't like this film.'' (God knows why he said that). So I slapped my hand to my face and said, ''doh!'' So I couldn't have it, because of honesty - even though it wasn't me being honest. I wasn't really buying it for him - I just had to say that. So, me being a strange Aspie and can get away with a lot of things buy good lying, the ''proper'' Aspie blew it. LOL

I can lie like nobody's business. I use to make up all these grandiose personalities for myself, and would stay "in character" all day long, when I was in school. I had no trouble keeping track of seven or eight fictional story arcs in my head. Face-to-face lying is the same. I mostly did it when I was little, cause if I'd already done something bad that was irreversible, how would a spanking help? :D :D :D

That's my logic and I'm sticking to it.

I admit to "lying by omission."

But, that's not saying something that isn't true. It's not saying something that is true.

Wikipedia says it counts as lying. I think that kind of lying saves me a lot of problems, so I doubt I'll ever stop.

Aspies can lie very well, they are capable of anything when they put their mind to it. I've learn't to lie and do it brilliantly. One of the best ways to spread a lie is to tell someone who is truthful and honest to others and then have him spread it. It worls every time. :D

:eew: Gross. Sounds like an STD. I can't figure out why anyone but a slimeball politician would want to do that.
