vegetarian and gluten free. if not for the gluten i would probably be vegan. considering it anyway but i'm frequently at the mercy of other people feeding me and it's difficult to be accommodated as is.

gluten free is out of medical necessity. veg is for every reason you can think of. mainly i prefer to think of animals as pets. i have trouble with the idea i have to feed my cats meat. (cats are carnivores. humans are omnivores.)

I've been a strict vegan for about a decade now. I don't eat meat for moral reasons; although I don't particularly like the idea of eating meat I would eat it if I had killed and prepared the animal myself, as I feel that's just nature and I'd be not different to any other animal. I just don't like the way a lot of the meat industry is run, or the detached element of just picking up a piece of meat from a supermarket shelf.

I stay away from dairy because I'm allergic to it, so I have to.

I'm very glad that I'm not allergic to milk and I can eat it again. I love milk and I'm a vegetarian, not vegan, now.

I don't eat much meat, and I'm not that crazy about it when I have it. I would eat much more fruits and vegetables if they weren't so expensive. The meat is primarily eaten before and during menstruation, without it, I risk becoming very tired and weak. (I found that out the hard way, after having very little meat for a few months.)

One thing I noticed is that once I largely excluded meat out of my diet, it becomes uninteresting. There are many days I don't eat meat, though I do have 'meat days' where I eat nothing but meat. Also, vegetables become very filling, and there are times I have only vegetables for a dinner, with some fruit for dessert. I don't drink much milk, I have it mainly in my coffee, but that's because I mostly lost my taste for it.

I was vegan for 7 years and vegetarian for about 20. It started when I was little because about half my family's vegetarian for religious reasons.

I eat very little meat these days, mostly because I don't find it very appealing, but I no longer consider myself vegetarian. My favorite foods are vegetables, though.

it's great to read of so many w. planetarians being one of the 2 v's. if more people would watch films of how animals are treated in factory farms and slaughterhouses, i think it might change their way of thinking.

there will always be a majority of humans who do not care how non-humans are treated as long as meat tastes 'swell'. makes me glad to be non-human.

it's fortunate that dogs can live very well 'meat-free', a shame cats cannot.

Vegetarian. I never drink milk. Occasionally eggs. Once in a while desserts and I don't fuss over what's in them.

I was raised as a carnivore and hated the plain vegetables with our dinners. Eventually I discovered more cuisines and realized there were so many delicious flavors to experience that did not require flesh. And I realized at one point as I travelled through India that if I ordered chicken, then the chef would grab one of the birds in the front yard and carry it to the kitchen.

These days I have to hold my nose when I walk through parts of the supermarket because they reek of death.

This reminds me of when I was 5 and was told to go around to the front of the house to play rather than the back. I knew the grown ups were up to something so I went but I quietly sneaked to the corner and peeped around to see what they were doing. They had the poor turkey strung up from a tree. I thought that was really sh*tty of them. They knew it was disturbing and confirmed it in my eyes by sending me away.

I've also seen chickens in transport to the slaughter house and it's very sad. They're crammed in cages so small they can't even stand or move effectively. The cages are just large enough not to crush them. And there's no protection from the winds as the truck barrels down the highway. We rode behind a truck in the mountains once like that and as we finally passed it I looked at the chickens. The ones who were still alive looked terrified. Their eyes were wide and unblinking, looking at everything in a panic. It was wrong.

I'm not a vegetarian because I care about the environment. Animals like cows eat plants & when they die they release methane gas into the ozone. I am protecting the environment by eating meat instead of plants

I am a vegetarian, yes. I do not consume meat for moral reasons. I am also allergic to dairy, thus I am almost a vegan. I also dislike egg, and I am unable to think of any other animal products.

I'm a vegetarian and I am obsessed with discovering what is in the foods we eat and are offered at the supermarket. I am currently at war with genetically modified foods such as corn and soy. Go organic whenever possible and within your budget. I have watched many documentaries such as 'Food Inc', done a lot of research on the internet and joined focus groups. It has changed the way I look at the corrupt chemical companies and corporate fast food giants that have poisoned our foods and changed the face of the food industry.

I can't be a vegetarian right now because my mom won't let me, but I really want to be a vegetarian when I grow up.
