i have a rigid routine wired into my physiology, and i not not ever think to disrupt it.

if i was to eat anything between my set meal times, it would detract from my appetite for the ensuing meal, and that would detract from my regular pleasure of selecting my choice of dishes for that meal, and that in turn would make me feel unsettled and somewhat unfulfilled and ruffled.

I'm like that too- I have breakfast at 8.00 (unless I'm at work when it's 7.30) which is always porridge and coffee, lunch at 1.00 (at work 12.30), which is also porridge, and dinner at 5.30 (sometimes porridge, sometimes some variant on protein/carbs/veg). I usually rotate the same meals. I don't like it when I have a lecture at 1.00 (Wednesdays) because it means I have to eat lunch early, which messes up the routine for the day. Sometimes it causes arguments when I'm at home because my mum wants to eat later as a family, but usually they let me get on with it.

i very much understand that.

it is good that you are not forced to eat at the time you mother expects when your routine is disrupted.

thank goodness i live on my own and i am not required to get back on the rails for others at their expected time when i am disrupted.

usually i spend the rest of the day in a sour feeling, and not enjoying eating the rest of my meals, and then i go to sleep and i wake up reset and happy again.

I live on my own most of the time which really helps, it's when I go home for a few days that it seems to be a problem again- it wasn't too bad when I was living at home, I think because Mum was used to it, but now when I visit she gets annoyed sometimes. It's OK most of the time though. I hate getting stressed at home though coz it usually causes more arguments. You're right that sleep 'resets' it though, I find that too.

Yes & no: I do eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the same times every day, but I also have 3 mini-meals: One between breakfast & lunch; one between lunch and dinner, and the third after dinner. I'm on a high calorie protein diet since I'm a bodybuilder, so I don't want to go 3 hours between any two meals. If I for any reason stopped or tapered off from the sport, I'd either drop the extra meals, or reduce the size of the 6.

Well, I'm a Master's student in Bromatology Institute (it means food science and engineering), so I know that 3 meals a day is not enough. I eat more meals, but they're small. The more small meals (ok, not too much), the faster metabolism is. I never forget to eat a breakfast, because it's the most important meal. I don't eat at night. It works.

It depends on the day and what Im doing. If Im going to the gym or school I eat a larger breakfast usually but if Im not really doing much or Im in a hurry I dont usually eat breakfast. Lunch I usually skip. Dinner I almost always eat. The time of each meal varries.
