Have you ever read "Fast Food Nation"?

Who cares about what McDonalds does, or any other fast food chain for that matter? There is absolutely nothing ethical about them.

Actually I've not read that book, but I have seen the movie 'Supersize Me', and even though I hardly ate at fast food restaurants before, I now REALLY make a point to avoid them whenever possible.

Oh yeah, the pictures of the new McD's reminds me of a really tacky Starbucks rip off. I remember the original Hamburger Stand versions. There used to be one on Lisbon St. in Lewiston, Maine that was finally converted over to the modern Brown format in the Winter of '71-'72.

Mcdonalds and KFC food both consistently make me feel ill - I'd rather feel hungry so I never eat there anymore. I do like McDonald's toilets though. Unless I'm dumb enough to arrive just after a bus at a roadstop, usually their toilets are the best.

I don't like subway much either. The meat they put in their bread is all processed, and the bread has more in common with fairy floss than any other food I know - it has no substance to it.

I don't mind thai takeaways, and I like to check out the local hamburger shops that are not part of chains. Fast Food nation did mention one (USA) hamburger chain that is family owned, gives their staff full health insurance, and buys better quality ingredients - and their hamburgers might cost 2c/burger more than McDonalds - but since I don't live in the USA - I forget which one that is.

I grow a fair bit of my own food, and I drink the water that comes off the roof. Not perfect, but cleaner than what comes out of the taps. I use a folded cotton shirt sleeve to filter the rainwater - that keeps the wrigglers out. I figure some bugs are good - that means the water isn't pure HCl (unlike our tap water).
