That is a stupendous picture. I really enjoy classic cars, especially cars from the 1930's, specifically Packards and Pierce-Arrows. And who can't love the lowly Hupmobile.

Although, an Aston Martin DB9 does sound pretty good about now. I am about to leave work and drive home 15 miles in rural Washington in my 62 horse power MB.

What Type of Lambo was it? I am a fan of the 1990 Lambo's.

I personally love car so much that my first word was "Car" No Joke!! 8)

Although this might be too typical, I grew up with a passion for the Porsche. (Does anyone remember the 928 or the 944, or even the Spider (Racing) ?). I'm just in love with their mixture styling and high power performance. The only down side is that they are F#*@%!^ Expensive!

I personally had the dream of designing the first flying car but I was ignorant at the time because they were already designing one. But I an awful a lot of picture of my made up car brand "Arona." I have drawn so many of these Arona that I actually have a portfolio of my drawings of my cars.

Car have always been something that I had a passion for all of my life :D

It was a 2009 Gallardo. Parked in front of the coffee shop I go to out in Walnut Creek.

I like Porsches, they have a timeless design ethic to them. - but the 944 was a forgettable car for them.

I like Lamborghinis, they are insane (literally)!

Can't say I'm too fond of Porches, though. They all look the same! Too boring for me, too. A supercar should be special.

Wow, that 944 does have a lot wrong with it and I bet if you looked at it you would find even more (or maybe you have looked at it?) Briefly, I worked for a Mazda dealership right out of college. Horrible job, but great cars. At that time they were pushing the car because it had just come out. It was really quite nice. The 2.5 V6 was smooth, but a little anemic. However, the 2.3 supercharged V6 was a kick in the pants. If I remember right, build quality was good and so was the materials used in the interior. I sold a black 2.5 just before I left. I have heard nothing but good things about the 300ZX, but I have not run across a lot where I live.

I worked at a Honda dealer for almost 2 years, had to leave for school. It was a decent job filled with drama and the cars were OK, but I feel that Honda's fallen off the radar by so much. Weak trannies, lack of torque - or gearboxes that can't hold up to a 3.5L V6 throwing 250 ft-lbs to it at the crank, horrible sales and service support.

My parents were considering using my employee discount towards a new Accord.

Really? I've never noticed that problem with Porsches, plenty of difference between a GT3 RS and a Boxster IMO

Maybe not as drastic as a VW Polo and VW W12 Coupe ("Nardo"), or a Toyota Prius and a Toyota Supra but that's the great thing about porsches and really, all Lamborghinis in the last 10 years look the same, the later models of the Diablo used (Z32) 300ZX headlights so you definitely aren't getting "special headlights" in your "special car".

Porsche has one thing going for it and that's that it doesn't make radical design changes that could piss off it's customer fanbase like Mazda's new smiley face grilles, Ford making trucks square again, Chevy making the Corvette rear bumper edgier. The main thing with Porsches has been the headlights which have over the years stuck out less and begun to sink back into the eyesockets of the hood. In the mean time they have a wealth of great s**t on their cars like ceramic composite brakes, dual clutch transmission, torque vectoring AWD, variable vane turbos, and moderately sized but entirely capable engines with lofty redlines.

How odd, we were just talking about this today.

Ten Nightmare Cars You Can't Resist (by Jalopnik)

10.) Porsche 944 Turbo S

Why It's a Nightmare: On average I see about four 944s daily and originally, there were 163,192 944s produced in total, meaning that chances of owning one are high. Good luck finding one though because only 40% of all 944s are still on the road today. It's even harder to find a decent Turbo S variant, so prepare to shell out a good amount of cash. Why wouldn't one want a Porsche that weighs less than 3000 lbs? The problem is that owners loved their cars too, so a lot of examples have high mileage, are falling apart, or just don't run. On top of that, expect to remove your left arm and leg because that's what maintenance costs. But the Turbo S's 247 HP and damn good looks make all the pain and drained bank accounts worth it.

and the angry response to this article by a 944 owner

I like all cars whether they are old or new. I actually like it when cars have higher miles on the odometer. My mom's 2001 Windstar just hit 200,000 miles today and she bought it new in 2001.

Yep, yep, and yep. I made one of those 'things to achieve' lists for the next umpteen years, half jokingly (as in its aspirational but I have no plans on how to do it) the last two steps were 'Get rich' followed by 'Buy DB9' :D

They look about the same to me...

Lamos look different, though. Throughout the past 10 years, they've only made three models, but they do look different from each other.

Same here, I'm gonna get rich then buy a DB9, I'll make a thread with pics after I do it :P

I want a Lexus LS600hL and a older Ford F250 Super Duty with the proven Navistar 7.3L Powerstroke so I can run it on biodiesel. And I can find one, an older Toyota Cressida or Supra to play around with and restore.

 That car looks like so much fun.

I think Porches are supposed to look the same - it was like a 30 year stretch or something. They did it on purpose.

I was conceived in a GTO similar to this one. 8)

~sigh~
Every time a car theme comes up, some bloke jumps on his soapbox and blows wind on all sorts of cars without really knowing much of anything in particular ...

i like older cars that are fairly common, with a few exceptions-

citroen xm - hydraulic suspension could sail over raised railroad tracks at 60 miles per hour. none other like it.
vw karmann ghia convertible - fun fun fun under the sun.
amc pacer - a unique bubble mobile with lots of space inside, and great visibility.
1985-1993 caddilac sedan/coupe deville - compact but still roomy and cushy.
1976 chevy monza coupe - sleek, quick for the day and fuel-efficient. but working under the hood was a [female dog].
1990-93 chevy lumina sedan/coupe- had a cushy caddy deville suspension but didn't advertise it.
2000-2004 toyota avalon xl- japan's only 6-seater w/column shifter- a crown sedan in japan home market - cushy and quiet.
80's era mercury sable - sleek and glassy, with an avant-garde interior.
late 80s buick regal- cushy and compact.
chrysler k-cars, in various iterations - decently supple suspension, compact exterior but roomy inside.
90's era chrysler "cab forward" sedans -sleek, glassy and enormously roomy.
70s-80s mercedes benz sedans - the smoothest-riding cars ever made.
70s era vw rabbit - zippy and smooth, a lot of fun to drive.

too many others to list here

Actually, the Avalon is basically a stretch Camry with softer suspension tuning. The Crown is JDM only - but the biggest difference is the Crown is RWD and has more in common with the Lexus IS/GS/LS. The Avalon is built on the Camry platform whose variants support the Camry(duh!)/Lexus ES, Sienna, Venza, and the Highlander/Lexus RX. They never sold well in Japan since it was too American - ditto with the Nissan Quest and Ford Taurus over in Japan.

And agreed on the older Mercedes, they handled on rails but man did they drink gas. We used to have one, I now drive an older Lexus LS400 which is IMO the spiritual successor to the Toyota Cressida here which was sold as the Mark II in Japan.
